Senior Solution Architect   
Hybrid – Attached to Hook or Solihull with UK Travel       
Full Time, Permanent   

£75,000 - £85,000 (dependent on experience)  

Here at Serco, we are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to support the execution of IT projects and bids across our Justice & Immigration (J&I) business unit (BU). To do so, you will work with key stakeholders to understand business requirements, identify any gaps between business requirements and current IT capabilities, define solutions to bridge the gaps, ensuring the project scope is maintained and solutions implemented in line with Serco architectural principles and the IT strategy for the J&I BU.

In this key role you will work closely with clients and business representatives to understand their business needs and design solutions to tackle the IT need of each project or bid. You must also understand the IT needs of the business as well as the overall impact of proposed solutions to the profitability of a business or bid.

To ensure you maximise value and credibility, you will be a specialist in at least one specific IT area whilst maintaining a broad knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies. You will also support the domain Enterprise Architects in the production and maintenance of the roadmap for there are of expertise.


As part of this you’ll:

  • Work to understand the needs of the business and produce designs & solutions for each project
  • Whilst working on bids, liaise with the business development and bid teams to formulate appropriate solutions and cost models
  • Support the domain Enterprise Architects in the development and maintenance of standards and roadmaps in their area of expertise
  • Present solution design and cost models as part of the Serco bid governance framework
  • Liaise with other IT professionals (e.g. Enterprise Architects, Technical Leads etc.) to architect and design solutions for business operations and bids
  • Ensuring compliance with solution architectural designs in the implementation of projects and bids
  • Provide architectural guidance and design leadership to the project delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the design


What you’ll need to do the role:

  • A strong background and experience in at least one IT discipline
  • Experience in Government-outsourced opportunities and practical experience of understanding business requirements, whilst maintaining a knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies
  • An understanding of modern IT infrastructure, applications, and Cloud-based technologies (SaaS, Azure etc.)
  • You must be able to offer clearly defined solutions to business problems, along with being an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues
  • You will have effective communication skills that enables you to convey complex technical details to clients in laymen terms
  • Ability to identify technical issues and design solutions to fix them, gathering and assimilating information
  • Effective relationship building skills with the business and IT stakeholders
