Lead/Advanced Systems Engineer

Contract Length : One Year

Location : Dorchester / Weymouth / London

Commencement Date : Immediate

SC Clearance: Required

Rate : DOE


We are currently seeking several Lead/Advanced Systems Engineers for a one-year contract in multiple locations across the United Kingdom


PLEASE NOTE: THESE POSITIONS ARE INSIDE IR35



This role involves a Lead/Advanced Systems Engineer working on extensive communications projects. The successful candidate will be part of an ambitious program to introduce new technology to a significant UK client base, including the construction, testing, and trial stages of the program.


Responsibilities include providing technical guidance for various parts of the solution, managing a team of engineers to complete the system design aspect of the solution, and maintaining the design baseline until customer platform approval.


The role also involves providing technical assistance to the team during the system integration and acceptance phase of the program, conducting technical investigations into both equipment and system-level anomalies, and liaising with software and hardware engineers as necessary.


The successful candidate will maintain the design and production baselines until platform acceptance, including specifications, ICDs, cable data sheets, BOMs, and certification documentation liaising with production, the DO, and safety engineers as required. They will also provide work package estimates that balance quality, compliance, and cost, and subsequently discharge work packages on time, to quality, and within budget.


Skills Required:

  • Experience leading a small team of engineers during the design and integration phase of a program.
  • Experience in deriving and preparing system and sub-system specifications from customer requirements and ensuring that the requirements meet the customer’s needs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to generate a coherent set of specifications, interface documentation, and estimates liaising with other functions and departments as necessary.
  • Knowledge and experience of Systems Engineering lifecycle activities including PDR, CDR, PRR, and TRR through the design and development phases into production, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance.
  • Knowledge and experience of Naval transverse characteristics and qualification activities including the operational environment (temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, EMC, TEMPEST), safety, security, human factors, ILS, etc.
  • Experience working with customers, presenting technical solutions, or chairing design reviews as necessary.
  • Practical experience with Naval communications systems, equipment, and infrastructure including management architectures and operational communications.
  • Practical experience with Naval installation, commissioning, and trial activities.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance and levels above will be required.
