Senior Systems Design Engineer

Full Job Description

We're looking for a talented naval architect or design engineer used to working with complex systems, routing and piping on either leisure or commercial vessels.

Our customer are a leading shipyard on the south coast who build both leisure and commercial vessels for clients across the globe. With an ever-growing order book they find themselves expanding their engineering team with a departmental specialist for a number of key pillars within the organisation.

Taking the lead on all things systems, this role will see you be the glue that binds client, engineering and shipyard together to produce a seamless process resulting in a vessel that is 100% fit for purpose.

Reporting into the Engineer Manager your duties will include:

- Liason with the client and external design partners to secure concepts, GAs and specs

- Overseeing systems and mechanical design engineering - placement, piping routing, accessibility

- Ensuring all design work is completed in 3D CAD to a high standard

- Ensuring compliance with vessel class and flag requirements

- Released of 3D works to the junior/drafting team for conversion to production drawings

- Population of BOMs

As an individual you'll be technically educated as a naval architect or mechanical engineer with experience in the design and engineering of vessels from 10m upwards either in a leisure or commercial maritime setting.

With a strong understanding of system placement and feasibility, 3D CAD and a sound knowledge of a variety of small and medium craft codes, you'll be able to both undertake hands-on engineering but also lead those more junior on larger projects.
