Full Job Description
The position requires a hands-on approach, and the role will
encompass all phases of project development, from pre-contract
activities through to final handover and customer sign off.
It is
envisaged that this position will be appprox. 60% field based and 40%
office based.
Key duties:
To oversee and
manage ship repair projects, through effective coordination of
internal and external resources.
Prepare and monitor KPI's for
repair such that safety, quality and delivery of the work are
maintained within the requirements of each project and the Company's
overarching policies and procedures.
Be client facing and be the
main link between the client and the yard and the yard and the
client.
Provide visible, pro-active HS&E leadership, ensuring that
all HS&E policies and processes are followed, including any necessary
client-specific requirements, ensure that requirements for incident
reporting, task risk assessment and safe methods of work are
followed.
Responsible for all aspects of project performance,
service delivery and safety management systems by providing effective
planning, budgeting, time and quality controls.
Providing support
as required to the Commercial Dept., both Estimating and Invoicing
functions for the successful preparation and management of the bid and
tender development processes.
Team up with the Invoicer for
preparation of the final Invoice and negotiations.
In coordination
with the Planner, plan all ship repair activities with internal and
external resources and include alongside and Dry Dock durations,
critical path, change control, recovery plans, contract variations and
actively seek to develop opportunities with the client.
Manage and
control the contract, project schedules, commercial aspects, risks and
issues and the documentation processes.
Responsible for a
portfolio of projects i.e. rigs, ships, steel structures.
Tour the
vessel daily to physically monitor progress of all work.
Solutions
orientated to support clients scope of work to alleviate
concerns/problems.
Liaise with Belfast Harbour Management, Pilots
and ships agents for arrival and departure of the vessel.
Communicate with Owners/Vessel/Superintendent prior to vessel arrival
to organise services or special requirements needed on arrival.
Role requirements/experience/qualifications:
A solid marine repair or ship construction / production
/repair background. Technical Superintendent with docking experience
considered.
Formal Project Management qualification is
preferential but not essential.
Managing and understanding of
docking / afloat repair projects is required and applicants would be
challenged to provide supporting evidence of this.
Proficient in
application and use of project management principles and
techniques.
OND (or equivalent) in Engineering, Class 2 (minimum)
Marine Engineer or other related subject.
Physically fit.
Able
to work unsociable hours and weekends.
Key Internal
Relationships: Operations/Production Managers, Cost Controllers,
Planners
Due to the nature of the role you will be required to be based in Belfast/Surrounding areas so if you are from out of area a relocation would be required. The role is Monday - Friday with some weekend work required in line with project demands.
Salary - Dependant on experience and discussed at application stage
