Full Job Description

Join my clients dynamic Simulator Engineering team as an experienced Software Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our Helicopter Simulators. Your responsibilities will span from software configuration and maintenance to fault finding and supporting software development for our flight simulators.

This role offers a diverse range of tasks, including developing software code, scripting, system configurations, and integrating new functionalities into the simulators. You will also be involved in software investigation and fault finding to ensure the continuous availability of simulators for flight training purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned software development tasks and code software effectively.
  • Conduct various testing procedures, including debugging and robustness testing.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for completing software tasks, identifying potential risks.
  • Investigate and address faults reported by simulator users.

About You:

We are seeking candidates who possess:

  • Initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness within an agile development team environment.
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, C#, or Fortran programming languages.
  • Experience in scripting with BASH/CSH.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux administration and TCP/IP networking troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency using IDEs such as Microsoft Visual Studio and experience with Windows OS.
  • Knowledge of Xterm, XWindows, and familiarity with service-based architectures is a plus.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning through platforms like Pluralsight alongside on-the-job training.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Exposure to modelling and simulation or a background in defence and security.
  • Familiarity with networking standards like DDS, ZeroMQ.

Additional Information:

  • Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • Some travel within the UK and abroad may be required, along with occasional overtime and weekend work.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain or transfer Security Clearance, sponsored by the Company. (Applicants must have lived continuously in the UK for the past 5 years to obtain security clearance or currently hold NATO SC level Security Clearance transferable to the UK.)
