Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Software Test Engineer to work with our European IT team on a strategic corporate booking tools project.

The European IT team is responsible for the development and ongoing ownership of software solutions primarily supporting European business needs. This includes web applications and integration solutions based on the .NET technology stack, increasingly leveraging MS Azure cloud, to serve internal employees and external customers.

 

As a QA subject matter expert, you have broad experience in industry QA best-practices and having worked in a variety of business environments. You are proactive and passionate about working in Agile teams in the adoption and implementation of sound QA processes.

 

The successful candidate activities will include manual and automated testing of web and integration applications, using industry standard tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, SpecFlow, Selenium, SoapUI and Postman.

 

ABOUT THE LOCATION

 

This is a role in the European IT team based in Egham, Surrey, though can be performed remotely from any UK location. If remote working is chosen, successful candidate will be expected to undertake occasional travel to Egham office at own expense as agreed in advance.

Responsibilities
  • Manual and automated testing of web and integration applications, using industry standard tools such as Microsoft Azure DevOps, SpecFlow, Selenium, SoapUI and Postman.
  • Assessing and evaluating quality assurance test requirements to determine the scope of the functionality to be covered by testing.
  • Designs, produces, execute, and maintain software test plans and test cases, while documenting, tracking, and reporting on defects.
  • Analyse test results, leverage troubleshooting skills to assist with defining root cause, and conducts re-testing after defects are addressed.
  • Primarily assist with testing of development work, testing incidents and change request development as / when required.
  • Work with Scrum Team to refine Acceptance Criteria of User Stories throughout development lifecycle.
  • Report test findings and defects found to Scrum and conduct re-testing of defect fixes.
  • Assist Developers with root cause analysis of defects found.
  • Collaborate with all members of Scrum team to ensure visible progression of features to users in each Sprint.
  • Design and execute clear, concise and maintainable manual test suites.
  • Automate UI tests using SpecFlow, the Selenium framework and Visual Studio (C#), where needed.
  • Follow and contribute to defined standards and processes within the development and testing team.
  • Research and apply new methods to improve testing quality and speed.
  • Take ownership of testing activities in assigned projects and manage own priorities independently.
Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Microsoft Tools (e.g. Visual Studio, TFS, Azure DevOps) and/or similar
  • Technical and automated testing tools (e.g. SpecFlow, Selenium. SoapUI, Postman)
  • Design and execution of structured manual test suites
  • Exploratory testing of systems-under-test
  • Proven experience in technical testing (e.g. XML, SQL, automation)
  • Basic SQL skills (e.g. query construction to inform testing process)
  • Defect reporting and tracking through dedicated tools (e.g. Azure DevOps)
  • Working in Agile project teams (e.g. Scrum / Kanban)
  • Experience testing websites to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 /2.1 AA compliance.
  • Beneficial
    • Comfortable with basic C# / Java coding activities
    • Testing in Cloud technology environments (e.g. MS Azure)
    • Experience of working in geographically distributed team environment
    • ISEB/ISTQB qualification
    • Degree qualified in Computer Science / Engineering / Sciences / Maths or similar discipline ; or show technical competence and enthusiasm for the role

 

Hours - 40 hours per week

 

Salary - £39,000-£56,000 depending on experience
