Full Job Description

Our Vision is to be the UK’s leading innovator of resource recovery and recycling, transforming waste for a climate-positive future.

Are you someone who lives and breathes high performance, leads with ambition, and would like to be part of an organisation that looks after tomorrow?  Viridor has a redefined purpose, a bold new Vision, and an ambitious, market-leading strategy. We are investing in the future, and we need a talented team with exceptional people, who believe in each other, to help us achieve this.

Join us, as we rise to the challenge and build a world where nothing goes to waste.

Our plastics reprocessing facility in Avonmouth, Bristol will reprocess over 80,000 tonnes of plastic every year - more than 1.6 billion bottles, tubs, and trays – creating recycled raw material to return to the economy.  Plastic recycling at the facility will save 126,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, the equivalent of taking over 67,000 cars off the road.

We have an opportunity at our Avonmouth Polymers site for a Sort Line Operative to join our team, working an average of 38.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday  shift pattern, to include nights.

The salary for this role will be £26,662.00  per year, plus shift allowance  and  participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

The closing date for applications is  21st April 2024

As a Sort Line Operative, the main part of your role will be to sort and separate materials to ensure the quality of the final product.

This is a varied role and you will also undertake general duties on site, such as bale trimming, general housekeeping and cleaning and other activities as directed by the Shift Manager or Production Supervisor

The ideal Operative will have:

  • Good communication skills
  • The ability to undertake structured work with consistent attention to detail.
  • Self-discipline and excellent time keeping

At Viridor, we invest in our people to reward them for their hard work.  That’s why we have a host of company benefits available to you when you join, including an enhanced pension scheme where we match what you put in and will contribute to your pension even if you can’t.  We also offer free eye tests (and free safety eyewear when needed), and a whole range of retail discounts across stores, hotels and holidays.  To protect your wellbeing, we also have a 24/7 employee helpline offering emotional support and advice.
