TeacherActive are proud to be working with a mainstream primary school in the Swansea area. This primary school are lucky to have two Specialist Teaching Facilities one in Foundation Phase and one in Key Stage Two. Their Specialist Teaching Facilities are there to provide help for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SCLN) and Development Language Disorder (DLD)

Alongside the school staff they have a Speech and Language Therapist who comes in weekly to support the pupils according to their statements.

The school are keen to promote inclusion and the children follow the same topics as children of the same age. They spend some time during each week, as appropriate to their individual needs in their mainstream classes.

The school are looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant 3 days a week to work alongside the class teacher in the Foundation Phase Specialist Teaching Facility. The position will start in September 2024 for a term initially, however, it may extend for the right person. Experience with speech sounds and visual phonics would be advantageous and further training and will be provided from the outreach speech and language support.

TeacherActive are looking to appoint an exceptional candidate who:

• Will have relevant experience of working with children (minimum of 6 months)
• Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
• Has experience of following Individual Education Plans  (IEP’s)
• Awareness of Speech and language strategies.
• Knowledge of Makaton and PECs
