Full Job Description

Contract type: Full-time (37.5 Hours per week) – Permanent

Location: Sheffield, Sheffield International Study Centre

Salary:  up to £ 38,631.40 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

The University of Sheffield International College is seeking a Statistics & Econometrics tutor to teach on our Pre-master’s Statistics & Econometrics module. 

The post holder will be part of the College’s Business and Economics Team. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Statistics and Econometrics tutor will be responsible for teaching Statistics and Econometrics, a Level 6 module delivered to groups of international students.  The teaching role includes marking assessments and the provision of feedback to students. 

The successful candidate will be competent in teaching IT skills, VLEs and also have a working knowledge of Stata, the statistical data analysis software.

The post holder will also act as a module coordinator.  This involves leading the teaching team, carrying out Quality Assurance procedures, and ensuring that teaching materials are up to date.  The role also requires the writing of both formative and summative assessments.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly as part of a busy team, contribute in meetings, communicate effectively with colleagues, and work to deadlines.

ABOUT YOU

  • A PhD or master’s degree in a relevant subject is required to teach in the pre-masters programmes.  We would accept a final-year PhD student.
  • Experience in teaching Statistics and Econometrics at UK Higher Education, Further Education or Sixth form, or equivalent teaching experience in a related field.
  • Experience in writing and marking assessments at a minimum of RQF level 3 (A-level/ Foundation level) or equivalent experience
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills, using a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g., Blackboard), and working knowledge or willingness to gain knowledge of statistical packages (e.g., Stata, R etc.)
