Under
the supervision of a Nurse Leader and the direction of the Registered
Nurse, the Student Nurse Technician is responsible for performing
specific duties that support patient care, which includes direct and
indirect patient care activities that are essential to providing a
safe and efficient care environment. This position performs selected
interventions and activities that contribute to providing
comprehensive care to patients in accordance with all existing
regulatory and hospital standards, policies, and procedures. In
addition, along with the care team, this position is responsible for
ensuring a positive patient experience.
This role performs in a high activity work environment with
multiple priorities and necessitates flexibility in scheduling.
Student Nurse Technicians must be actively enrolled in an accredited ASN or BSN Nursing program.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the RN and the nursing care team by performing nursing care measures that contribute to the daily management of patient care. Upholds infection prevention standards.
- Performs and assists with direct patient care: bathing, grooming, oral / denture care, perineal care, toileting, elimination, feeding, positioning, repositioning and ambulation.
- Performs interventions: specimen collection, urinary catheter care, Point of Care Testing.
- Obtains and records vital signs using the electronic medical record.
- Assists in maintaining a clinical environment that is clean, safe and free from clutter.
Minimum Requirements
Education
• Current enrollment in an accredited
ASN or BSN program and in good academic standing.
• Successful
completion of PCT specific HHC orientation.
Experience
•
None
Licensure, Certification, Registration
• Certified
BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA)
obtained within 2 Months (60 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
Language Skills
• Must be able to read and understand oral
and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in
English.
Preferred Requirements
Education
•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•
Successful completion of Hospital approved Preceptor training.
Experience
• Acute care experience as a nursing assistant
Licensure, Certification, Registration
• Certified Nursing
Assistant (CNA) preferred.
