Full Job Description

Job Title: Student Veterinary Nurse

Salary: From £23,795 DOE

Location: Folly Gardens Vets, Tewkesbury and Cheltenham

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week (time allocated for college attendance). Saturdays are one in three half-days or one in four full days with time off in the week. No OOH.

Your role and responsibilities

Due to qualification, we have an exciting opportunity for a Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) to join the experienced team at Folly Gardens!
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, forward thinking and keen to develop their skills and knowledge. We would be willing to take on a Pet Care Assistant who’s looking to progress into a nursing role or a first or second-year student.
However a candidate with prior experience of the veterinary profession would be preferred.


You will be based at our main clinic in Walton Cardiff but you may be required to work at our three other branches to cover absences.

Our nurses are well utilised and encouraged to fulfil all areas of nursing; we will support and provide all necessary training and development within the role.

We are a supportive team who thrive on development of individuals both at the start of their career as well as throughout.

This role will involve working in a variety of areas within the practice to support the team. By working enthusiastically within the team, you will help maintain an, efficient and effective working environment.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Patient handling and restraint
  • Maintaining patient welfare
  • Reception duties e.g. answering the phone, booking appointments
  • Maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness of all areas of the practice
  • Lab work, radiography, anaesthesia and nurse consultations

About us

Folly Gardens is a thriving group of four practices within the Gloucestershire area that are proud to have recently joined Linnaeus.

Our main practice based in Tewkesbury provides a range of exciting services, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, radiography and advanced imaging including CT scans.
We have vets that specialise in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, medicine, dermatology and have a visiting ophthalmologist.
