Substance Misuse Group Facilitator

Portsmouth Substance Misuse Services, The Recovery Hub

37 Hours Full Time, permanent. Mon-Fri with occasional evening and weekend work

Salary Scale: 22-26 (£24,774 - £28,057 per annum)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Charity and Housing Association.  The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 40 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Role

You will work in the Adult Substance Misuse Community Service at The Recovery Hub in Southsea. The ideal candidate will encourage service users to participate in activities within our day rehab and the local community and assist them in identifying suitable work, fellowship, leisure, housing and voluntary activities. You will also support in delivering groups, as part of the psychosocial programme. 

The successful candidate will have experience of working with substance misuse and mental health client groups, have an excellent knowledge of the impact of substance misuse on individuals, families and the wider community and be able to manage a client caseload safely and effectively. You will understand the impact of substance use and alcohol dependency and offer a range of interventions and support available to help people make their lives better. 

The Ideal Candidate

You will work in a person-centred approach to support individuals who want to make changes to their lives by supporting them to access interventions that are important to them. Good risk management skills are essential, as well as a strong ability to build meaningful relationships with our service users. This will enable SSJ to deliver our purpose to create engaging opportunities for growth and development for employees and our service user’s alike. 

The ideal candidate trauma-informed and compassionate approach to dealing with individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviour. You will also be able to maintain professional boundaries at all times and demonstrate self-awareness at all levels.

The ideal candidate will have experience of facilitation of groups in line with best practice in line with clinical guidelines and DANOS competencies.
