Our client is a leading, global manufacturer of products used in electricity generation, transmission and distribution. They supply to large contractors, OEMs and end users throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
Due to continued success they
are now looking to recruit a permanent Supplier Quality
Engineer for their Leicester site.
Duties for the
Supplier Quality Engineer:
Manage all suppliers for the
company and maintain all regulations and requirements, updating
supplier database with supplier performance scorecard.
Able to
identify new suppliers for current single source products.
Able to
assess new supplier samples for business projects; reviewing
guidelines for product assembly and ensuring all materials and
resources are available.
This process may also involve sourcing
materials and choosing between multiple vendor options, ensuring best
quality and service is received and best value is attained.
Key Goals
1. Identify potential new suppliers and
evaluate samples provided
2. Enhance risk mitigation (expand beyond
key materials currently subject to single source)
3. Implement
environmental and sustainability practices through the supply
chain
Responsibilities
* Responsible for selecting suppliers,
monitoring supplier performance, developing a good supplier base,
maintaining a good supplier relationship. Traffic light risk
register
* New Product Introduction in the supply chain. You will
work closely with a multi-functional team to try to avoid failures,
issues and unnecessary costs.
* Ensuring compliance of products and
project related documentation within the UK Supply Quality
Organization and ensures adherence to Company procedures/work
instructions/specifications.
* Work with Engineering (Design and
Manufacturing Engineers) team to define process parameters and
criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet
product and process requirements
* Lead the supplier approval
process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health,
Safety and Environmental risks.
* Provide concise, complete and
accurate documentation of inspection results relative to area of
responsibility. In appropriate functional areas, this refers to
supporting inspection and test status requirements defined by
regulations, engineering product specifications or Control Plans,
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval or product warrant
submission.
* Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions
of supplier quality issues.
* Perform on-site supplier visits for
root cause analysis and verification of correction actions of supplier
quality issues.
* Collate and evaluate supplier quality data to
identify process improvement opportunities within the supply
chain.
Hours: 37.75 per week: standard hours are 8.15 to 17.00
Monday to Thursday, 8.15 to 13.00 Friday but may be some flexibility
on this
The successful Supplier Quality Engineer should have
the following skills, qualifications and experience:
* Must have a
solid understanding of engineering drawings (electrical and
mechanical) and manufacturing processes
* Excellent analytical
skills and technical skills with strong attention to detail
*
Excellent communication skills
* Exceptional problem-solving
skills.
* Keen eye for supply quality control
* Knowledge of
Quality Systems and Measure Tools and techniques.
* Be able to
present data effectively.
* Relevant business/commercial or
manufacturing/engineering degree preferred, or HNC, or equivalent NVQ
level 4 qualification.
Salary & Benefits for the Supplier
Quality Engineer role:
36K-38K per annum depending on
experience.
4% contributory pension, Life insurance, health cash
plan, cycle to work, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
