Surf Coach

The Wave, Bristol, are recruiting Surf Coaches for our 2024 summerseason.  We have fixed-term and casualroles available.

Our 180mlong lake is powered by Wavegarden. This ground-breaking technology cangenerate up to 1,000 quality waves per hour, ranging from 50cm (1.7ft) toalmost 2m (6.5ft) in height. We can produce a new wave every 8-10seconds. 

As aSurf Coach at The Wave, you will be part of a coaching team that iscommitted to delivering The Wave’s lesson plans, ensuring our visitors have anunrivalled surfing experience. You will work to create a safe and inspirationalenvironment for people to learn and have fun. Our Surf Coaches:

•      Confidently deliver Beginner lessons to The Wave's high standard

•      Confidently follow alldepartmental H&S rules & procedures

•   Have a comprehensiveunderstanding of all surf sessions, experiences & wave settings

•      Champion the departmental standards

•       Complete Surf Ops training to support the department in the day to dayrunning

•      Have wider site knowledge &promote and advise to visitors

•      Support other Wave departmentsin busy periods 

•       Joining the Lifeguarding team and joining rotations when required

We’ll train you in The Wavehealth and safety processes and procedures, so you are able to act as anambassador for The Wave and champion health and safety across the Surf Opsdepartment. 

We want to grow and develop ourWavemakers! Coaches with the skills and desire to progress will be given theopportunity to take on more responsibility and coach higher skill sessions.

Our ideal Wavemaker will haveexperience of coaching with a strong desire to get people active and to engagewith surfing. Our Wavemakers are proactive, have great communication skills anda can-do attitude!

Our Surf coaches must becertified ISA level 1 (minimum), beach lifeguard qualified and able to providea clear DBS check prior to any commencement of work.

APRIL 2024 PAY CHANGES -  As of 1st April this role will be paid at £12.03 per hour .
