Full Job Description

Role: Interim Sustainability Consultant

Location: Remote

Sector: Construction / Built Environment

Rate: £ Negotiable

Terms: Outside IR35 contract, initial 5-month duration.


Contract Overview:

We are looking to engage a Sustainability Consultant (contract) with strong knowledge and experience in the Construction/Built Environment sector, to work with a FTSE 100 market leader in this space.


You will assist with the delivery of the company’s Sustainability Framework by assessing, analysing, developing, implementing, monitoring, and measuring a programme of initiatives. To do so, you will measure and interpret sustainability impact across the company value chain, in the broadest sense including carbon, biodiversity, human rights, social value, water, waste and other priority workstreams.


We are looking to speak with experiences Sustainability professionals in the Built Environment sector, who have the capability to work independently to drive initiatives and projects forward.


You will work remotely, with frequent communication with the wider sustainability team. There may be the requirement for infrequent project-based travel.


Contract Details:

  • Measure and interpret sustainability impact across the company value chain.
  • Support the analysis and interpretation of the company’s performance across these areas and create insight that will help the company develop recommendations for action.
  • Review technologies and initiatives and develop detailed feasibility analyses and be able to make recommendations to the company.
  • Support the project management and co-ordination of the programme of activity for the sustainability team.
  • Develop KPIs, performance management reports and technical analyses in line with the sustainability strategy and framework, collaborating and supporting company in monitoring and measuring the impact of various initiatives.
  • A focus will be on carbon and its presence across our value chain relationships.
  • Autonomously coordinate sustainability projects and initiatives by working with business stakeholders.


Sought Experience:

  • Experience in construction and/or built environment / sustainable supply chains.
  • Experience of corporate sustainability strategies across a broad range of issues including biodiversity, waste, social mobility, human rights, greenhouse gas reporting and transition plan creation and evaluation.
  • An organised and effective programme and project manager.
  • Passionate about creating a sustainable future for the business, understanding the impact this role will have on the UK sustainability agenda and therefore the global sustainable development goals.
  • Numerate with strong analytical skills, and able to produce high quality reports and materials autonomously.
