Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship (Oasis Academy Broadoak) Part of Oasis Community Learning Trust


We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant Apprentice to work within a classroom environment with SEN learners, supporting their education. You will help support the young learners within their lessons and provide support to the teachers.

Apprenticeship summary


Annual wage -£10,158.72 a year

£5.50 per hour, 39 - 40 weeks per year pro-rata salary


Working week -Monday - Friday, shifts to be confirmed.

Total hours per week: 35 hours a week


Expected duration - 16 Months


Possible start date - 05 Dec 2023 (depending on DBS and references)


Apprenticeship level - Advanced


What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Raise standards of achievement for all pupils
  • Encourage pupils to become more independent learners
  • Provide support for their emotional, social, and physical welfare
  • Support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
  • Work under the direction of the line manager, class teachers, and other staff to support the learning of whole classes, selected groups or individuals as instructed
  • Study relevant qualifications while you earn
  • Supervising class activities
  • Assisting with young people’s learning experience
  • Helping students who might need extra support
  • Attending relevant academy meetings as required
  • Respecting confidentiality at all times
  • Participating in the performance and development review process, taking personal responsibility for identification of learning, development and training opportunities in discussion with line manager
  • Promote positive pupil behaviour in line with academy policies and help keep pupils on task
  • Interact with and support pupils, according to individual needs and skills
  • To support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
  • Demonstrate a positive commitment to equality and diversity.

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Standard qualification
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 
  • Employee Rights and Responsibilities

  • Amplify knowledge of safeguarding, and emergency procedures
  • Increased mastery of the critical stages of child and adolescent development
  • Enhance understanding of the types of influences that can affect this development
  • How training will be delivered is to be confirmed.
