Job Description

To lead, motivate and develop a Paraplanning team. To prepare suitability reports and prepare technical client work for the Senior Financial Planners. Have an in-depth knowledge of complex written advice and understanding for clients’ needs and the desired client outcomes. To work with the Managing Partner / team heads to optimise capacity and performance within the team.

  • Prepare suitability reports across a wide range of advice types, financial products, and investment solutions, undertaking technical research as required
  • Conduct appraisals, 121s and drives performance within the team
  • Coach, mentor & provide training to develop Paraplanners
  • Responsible for disseminating important information and business changes which impact the Paraplanning team
  • Manage the report workflow, drive efficiencies within the team and be a technical point of reference for the team
  • Responsible for overseeing the competence framework of the team by maintaining the skills matrix to understand the skills of the Paraplanning team. This will involve doing peer checks and obtaining feedback from Advice Quality and Financial Planners, including any in-house testing
  • Promote a service excellence mind-set throughout the team and wider organisation
  • Identify and report any risks, breaches, or errors through ensuring risks are logged through to mitigating actions and controls
  • Work in partnership with Managing Partner, Team Heads, Projects, L&D along with specialist teams to identify training and coaching needs and to develop team and individual plans

Qualifications

Minimum Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS) (Ideally Chartered) A desire to develop
further and to undertake relevant examinations

  • Demonstrable experience of paraplanning gained with a proven solid technical knowledge
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • Proven track record of delivering written financial advice
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills; able to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Strong stakeholder management with positive influencing skills 
  • Literacy, numerical and analytical skills are essential
