Job Description

We are seeking a motivated, passionate individual to join our team of consulting engineers and technical specialists at InnTech. This is a full-time paid salary position intended for individuals with 2+ years experience. As a Technical Sales Manager, you will be responsible for advancing business development opportunities and expanding InnTech's services in BC's lower mainland. 

Your goal is to bring in new business opportunities in mid-to-large scale commercial and residential projects by actively pursuing new and existing accounts. With the support of local EMCO HVAC Profit Centers and InnTech Project Engineers, you will prepare proposals and deliver technical training/presentations for our network of HVAC contractors. You will also be responsible for securing new business relationships with a variety of stakeholders including engineers, contractors, builders/developers, policy makers, and product manufacturers.

As part of this role, you will be given the autonomy to work on projects that interest you and you are encouraged to bring forth new ideas, technologies, and business opportunities to help improve and grow the InnTech business line.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of innovative HVAC products, systems and their applications.
  • Support customer inquiries with technical guidance on HVAC products and installations.
  • Create project proposals that effectively communicate the proposed solution, project pricing and features and benefits.
  • Engage with public and private industry stakeholders through tradeshows, webinars, training, and 1-on-1 meetings to examine market opportunities and create new sales leads.
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with key vendor partners, EMCO profit center teammates, HVAC contractor customers, engineers, developers/builders and other industry partners
  • Manage mid-to-large scale projects and effectively communicate with all stakeholders involved. 
  • Grow the InnTech brand through social media platforms, tradeshow attendance, promotional material, and creation of new sales resources.
  • Conduct site visits and collect pertinent information required to conduct heat transfer and ventilation calculations to accurately size and select new HVAC systems for existing buildings.
  • Interpret engineer drawings and work with project engineers to complete take-offs/spec conversions and bid package proposals for bid-spec projects.
  • Understand design tools used by project engineers to promote design services to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and help create solutions for customers when problems arise.
  • Effectively communicate and deliver federal, provincial and municipal energy efficiency incentive programs to InnTech stakeholders.
  • Deliver unique and creative financial solutions/models to help secure large bids.
  • Research and provide recommendations on new products, services, programs and market trends to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understand and follow all safety regulations at all customer locations as well as EMCO profit centers.
  • Work remotely or from one of our offices with occasional travel to job sites and/or business meetings.

Qualifications
  • College diploma or University degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical), architecture, building science, or HVAC trades.
  • Outstanding customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors, and teammates
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high standard of integrity.
  • Must work well independently (with little to no supervision) and in a team setting.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License with clean abstract.
  • 2+ years experience in engineering/technical sales, marketing or business development

Preferred Skills:

  • Candidates with mechanical engineering or building science backgrounds.
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of air source/ground source/water source/heat pumps, ERV's/HRV's, hydronics, commercial ventilation, VRF systems, or refrigeration systems.
  • Experience using excel for data manipulation and preparing reports.
  • Having any of the following certifications is considered an asset: BCIN, HRAI HVAC design certifications, LEED, CEA, CRE, CEM, CET, CMVP, P. Eng
  • Experience using Trend, Eclipse, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
