Temporary Accommodation Allocations Officer
Public Sector - Local Authority - Housing Demand Department
Full Time - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 35 hours per week
Temporary Role - 3 months with possible extension
£21.51 per hour PAYE / £27.99 per hour Umbrella (increasing to £28.84 per hour Umbrella after 12 weeks)
up to 28 days Paid Annual Leave per holiday year (increasing to up to 36 days per year after 12 weeks) - PAYE ROUTE ONLY

Knowledge of the Council's Housing duties under Part VI of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and other relevant legislation and case law. * Knowledge of Choice Based Lettings for the allocation of social housing * Knowledge of Council's homelessness duties including provision of temporary accommodation. * The ability to assess and engage with residents, to ensure that their accommodation needs are fully assessed and ensuring offers of accommodation are suitable for household needs

Essential Experience

Experience of working in a Housing Allocation setting, either in a Council, Registered Provider or Private Sector work setting.

Purpose of Role

* To ensure the effective implementation of the Councils Housing Allocation Scheme, including the letting of Council & Registered Provider (RP) housing to shortlisted applicants * To participate in the letting of temporary accommodation, including PSL units, hostels and private rented sector offers * To participate in new projects to improve the service provided to residents. * The provision of advice and information to customers regarding bidding activity & rehousing prospects * To develop and maintain effective relationships with accommodation providers, and ensure the Council receives its full quota of units

Key Accountabilities

To work as part of a team advertising and letting Council and Registered Provider homes to applicants on the housing register, in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocation Scheme. This includes advertising properties, shortlisting and contacting clients and following up on viewing outcomes.
To provide a high quality advice and information to ensure that customers are equipped to understand their housing options and make informed decisions, promoting all housing options including low cost shared ownership, intermediate rent and private sector options.
To develop a thorough knowledge of the Council's housing stock, and work in partnership with Landlord Services to minimalize void periods in the letting of Council stock.
To let different forms of temporary accommodation to homeless households including Council hostel, PSL, PRSO and other scheme types, working with the Local Lettings Team and Housing Solutions to ensure that the offers are suitable.
To respond to and provide correspondence to assist in responding to Customer/MP/Councillors complaints and enquiries.
