Full Job Description

Randstad are recruiting for a Test Rig Design Engineer for a client based in Bristol. They are a rapidly growing company that specialise in designing and manufacturing high pressure hydraulic components and systems, predominantly for the Automotive and Aerospace sectors.

The successful candidate will work within the Validation & Verification team to understand the test needs, build a robust set of requirements, and deliver test rig solutions in a timely manner. This role will involve a great deal of independent design and implementation, and would suit someone that is looking to have total ownership over the design and delivery of a complex electro-mechanical system.

Typical responsibilities:

Designing test rigs, including frames, enclosures, motion control elements (linear actuators or hydraulic actuators), electrical and hydraulic circuits, etc.
Creating CAD models and drafting engineering drawings for mechanical elements
Reading and creating hydraulic and electrical circuit diagrams
Carrying out risk assessments
Planning out sequence of activities to manage multiple rig development projects
Dealing with sub-contractors (machine shops, component and sub-system suppliers, electricians, etc.
Creating and maintaining requirements and design documents
Dealing with breakdowns, maintenance activities and bug fixing on current test rigs, as well as carrying out modifications to current rigs as neededEssential requirements

Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification (degree level or equivalent experience)
3+ years' experience in engineering
Experience with managing own workload, working independently within a large team, and progressing multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of designing electro-mechanical systems from a mixture of off the shelf and bespoke components (with ability to select appropriate manufacturing method)
Desire to get hands on with the test rigs and ensure they are performing to requirements
Ability to use CAD tools

This is a full time permanent position with a salary of £40,000 - £45,000, flexible start and finish times and a 9 day working fortnight, so you would have every other Friday off as well.

The role is fully on site and will predominately be based at our client's production facility just outside of Bristol.
