NEW TEST TECHNICIAN ROLE IN CAMBRIDGE, CAMBRIDGESHIRE

As a Production Test Technician for our client based in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and functionality of Analog and digital A/V products, including amplifiers, surround processors, loudspeakers, streaming, and video processors. Your main responsibilities will include performing tests using manual instructions and PC-driven test systems, functional testing of printed circuit boards, micro-controller code loading, identifying and repairing non-conforming products, and assisting with compliance testing and record-keeping.

Main Duties for the Test Technician role based in Cambridge, Cambridgshire:

  • Perform tests on products following detailed test procedures.
  • Conduct functional tests and set up printed circuit boards.
  • Perform micro-controller code loading.
  • Accept sub-assemblies for burn-in (soak), including mains safety checks.
  • Conduct primary functional testing of chassis sub-assemblies.
  • Identify and repair non-conforming products, including fault finding down to component level.
  • Assist the Production Test and Verification Engineer with production testing and feedback during NPI.
  • Conduct compliance testing, A inspection, and record-keeping of finished products.

Skills, Qualifications, Competence Level for the Test Technician role:

  • Ideally qualified to BTEC/ONC/HNC level in electronics engineering, or equivalent experience and understanding in a similar role.
  • Previous practical experience and working knowledge of A/V products.
  • Familiarity with Flying probe and bed of nails testing would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and follow detailed test procedures.
  • Proficient in fault-finding to component level on mixed technology printed circuit boards.
  • IT literate with a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a flexible attitude towards working within a production team environment.
