Full Job Description

Our client, a family-run business operating across the Utility and Construction sectors, are currently looking to expand their team and hire a Trainee Quantity Surveyor.

The company -

Offering services withintelecoms, water rehab, and electric mains installations. Theirgroundwork division offers 278 works, sub station build, drainage, utilities, footings, concrete, grab hire and full reinstatement works.

The role -

This is an amazingopportunity to train as a Quantity Surveyor in an exciting market whilst studying/completing academic courses, funded by our client.

You will be trained in the below duties -

  • Taking off from technical drawings and preparing bills of quantities
  • Valuing ongoing works on site and submitting applications for payment
  • Managing live contracts up to a combined value of circa 5 - 10 million
  • Measuring and submitting costs for variations
  • Assessing and managing sub-contractor payments
  • Cost reporting for live projects
  • Forecasting for live projects
  • Overseeing and carrying out rate build-up processes
  • Formulating and negotiating price increase agreements

Requirements -

  • 4 GCSE's grade A-C
  • Driving licence preferred
  • Previous experience within the construction/civil engineering industry preferred
  • Ambitious
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good skills within Microsoft packages such as Excel and Word
  • Able to commute to the office based in Stoke
