Materials Test Sales Engineer in the UK for AMETEK Sensors, Test and Calibration

Home-based with regular travel to our site in Bognor Regis as well as customer sites. 

At AMETEK Sensors, Test and Calibration - a world leading innovator and manufacturer of test equipment and calibration instruments – we are looking for a Materials Test sales engineer to join our Centre of Excellence for Materials Test Applications in the UK. We deliver the right testing solution for our customer’s application through our testing expertise combined with the right product testing capabilities.

As our UK Sales Engineer you will be a key player in expanding our direct presence and maintaining a large installed base in the UK and Denmark through direct consultative selling to a wide variety of industries, such as medical devices, automotive, packaging, aerospace, and defense.

In this position you will be working closely with the Sales Director for TEST and the UK Sales Manager. Additionally, there is close cooperation with product management and application engineers in the UK.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Sales results and growth in the territory
• Technical and relationship sales to new and existing customers
• Managing relationship with existing key accounts and developing new key accounts
• Qualifying leads and converting them to satisfied customers
• Assisting with successful installation and training at customer site
• Application software support to our customer base
• Securing a healthy opportunity funnel in our CRM by managing accounts, contacts, and opportunities
• Input to forecasts and regular feedback from the territory to sales and marketing

Your experience and background can be varied. You may have a background as an engineer, a sale professional or worked as a service technician. The most important factor is a keen interest in consultative selling and finding the right solutions for our customers.

Job Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in either sales, application engineering or as a service technician
• Experience selling into or servicing QA/R&D/production environments
• Experience configuring software systems including simple programming
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time in the territory
