Full Job Description

We are looking for a medical biased veterinary Surgeon who loves working up cases and has a flare for neurology to join our team.

We are a 24-hour RCVS small animal accredited hospital and emergency services clinic located 30 mins by train outside of central London as well as having direct transport links to Southend and Stanstead airports.

This role would suit a person looking to develop their skills in neurology, medicine or ophthalmology. An interest in exotics or dentistry would also be advantageous as we are looking to further develop our skillset in both these areas.

Our current rota is a 40 hours a week across 4 days with a set day off each week and 1:4 weekends. We have a dedicated night team so there is no scheduled out of hours shifts, however we do have an on-call rota for emergency back up only which equates to about 3 -4 times in the year thus enabling excellent work life balance.

We offer an attractive salary package of £55,000- £60,000 per annum depending on experience. We also offer a range of enhanced benefits such as private healthcare, income protection & colleague discounts.

About our hospital

Our hospital values are compassion, empowerment and excellence and this is always at the heart of what we do. We have a passion for patient centred integrated care and our unique hospital environment allows us to provide that. We are a well-equipped, state of the art 24 hour hospital with multiple advanced facilities including in house CT, MRI, a wide range of lab machines, range of video endoscopes and a rehabilitation suite. This allows you the opportunity to work up cases to a high standard in house and enables excellent continuity of care. We are supported by a strong nursing team and an in house rehabilitation team providing care for patients throughout their stay and beyond. We all work as one team together across all aspects of the hospital to provide a high standard of seamless care for all of our patients.

We offer emergency cover for several local clinics in addition to our patients, thus enabling a good variety of emergency and critical care cases as well as offer referral services to first opinion practices for imaging, orthopaedic, laparoscopic, ophthalmic surgeries and a wide range of complex soft tissue surgeries. We have cat, dog and exotic wards as well as outpatients and isolation units. We have a dedicated dental area with dental x-ray and our own in house rehabilitation team providing hydrotherapy and physiotherapy. We are very passionate about pain control and anaesthesia including regional anaesthesia and are currently working towards our zero pain practice accreditation.

Education and support for our team is really important to us. Many of our vets and nurses are either certificate holders or working towards these qualifications. We don't have a cap on our CPD budget which allows our team to all pursue their own development without constraint. All colleagues have regular check- ins and quarterly reviews where we focus on hospital wide goals as well as personal and clinical development. We also have a qualified insights practitioner within the team who helps us work on our teamwork and communication skills.

We regularly offer EMS placements and are a veterinary nursing training practice. It's important to us that all of our colleagues work together to provide a supportive learning environment for all members of our team.

Our team currently consists of 15 vets, 15 RVNs, 10 SVNs, 10 VCAs and also excellent levels of support in our client care and finance teams too. You will be supported in your role by our Medical lead Vet and clinical lead vets. In addition, we have additional lead vets in surgery to allow for support, development and guidance in these areas.

We are an accredited sponsor, able to issue certificates of sponsorship for tier 2 (general) visas for suitable vet applicants.
