Purpose of the role

As a YouTube video producer and host at Proton, you will use your storytelling skills to turn privacy & security news, deep-dives, guides, and educational content into engaging short and medium-lenght videos. Your goal is to increase Proton’s share of voice on YouTube, Tiktok, and other video platforms and grow its brand awareness. Your primary channel will be YouTube, but you will also be able to experiment with your content on other social media channels. Together with the brand community team, you will influence the content we create by brainstorming, testing, and strategizing content with high potential for growth.

As a video host, you are at ease in front of the camera and can easily explain a complicated and technical concept to a wider audience. You understand the importance of brand personalities and can adapt your tone and demeanour to fit with the company’s overall brand guidelines. You’re a natural storyteller and a content strategist who knows the ins and outs of turning ideas into polished videos for YouTube and more. You’ll have the opportunity to build Proton’s brand presence on YouTube and influence how it will develop in time. You’ll have a database of over 100 million people you can promote your videos to and convince them to follow Proton’s YouTube channel.

What you will do

• Be Proton’s YouTube host and produce high-quality videos to educate and inspire viewers on topics like privacy, security, encryption, internet, online freedom, and more.
• Handle video production from A-Z including research, scripting, recording, editing, voiceover/audio, and publishing.
• Use various media assets such as stock videos, screen recordings, screenshots, archival/new footage, and photos to craft timely and evergreen video content.
• Collaborate with internal experts, motion designers, marketers, and cyber experts to enhance your video content or fact check your scripts.
• Align to the overall video strategy and help establish Proton as a leading video content creator.
• Stay updated with competitor strategies, propose and test new content ideas.
• Maintain consistency in video production and publishing, and optimize content based on performance metrics.
• Keep abreast of the latest trends, innovations, and technologies in brand building and social media.
• Be the face of a brand loved by millions of people and organizations around the world.
  
  

• 2+ years of hands-on experience producing and publishing video content as a vlogger, ideally on YouTube or a similar role in the Media industry.
• Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or similar fields proving a deep technical understanding of technology, internet, privacy, and security
• Experience creating and optimizing video content for performance and quality
• Proven experience with storyboarding and script-writing
• Strategic approach in researching/choosing topics (SEO) and adapting to various audiences
• Proven on-camera and voice-over experience 
• Outstanding understanding and knowledge of the YouTube platform
• Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and any other video editing tools
• Independent, self-motivated, and proactive with meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to a brand’s personality and TOV
• Native and flawless written and spoken English skills
• Clear diction and pronunciation

• Charismatic on-screen presence 
• Experience with multi-brand, multilingual communities and channels
• Previous journalistic experience / podcasting experience 
• Experience in the tech or SaaS industry is a plus 
• Experience with both B2C and B2B marketing
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, always-on startup environments
• Fluency in other languages
