Full Job Description

Role Purpose

To provide IT support to Walter Scott employees

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Desktop Support as required:
  • Call Ownership – Ticket Creation, Update, Closure and Troubleshooting, Diagnosis and Resolution of IT problems.
  • Install, upgrade and support Windows 10, as well as install, and support printers, computer hardware and any other authorised peripheral equipment.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on computers, laptops, printers and any other authorised peripheral equipment.
  • Provide 1st line support for Network and Voice escalating to relevant teams where necessary.
  • Liaising with 3rd party providers to support hardware issues.
  • Investigating & fault-finding software issues.
  • IT asset management.
  • Software installation.
  • Diagnose and communicate complex technical issues, escalating to third line support where necessary.
  • User management, be the key point of contact for new user account setup, managing leavers and internal transfers. Accurate and timely recording of these tasks for
  • Audit and asset tracking. 
  • Assist with installation and configuration of corporate mobile apps on personal devices. 
  • Explain and document technical issues in a clear way.
     

Skills & Competencies

  • Must have analytical skills and be able to solve technical problems across different platforms.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Experience of using IT ticketing software.
  • Must be able to balance the needs of the business versus deep dives into problems.
  • Must be a team player and be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal with appreciation of the audience.

Skills & Experience

  • Supporting Windows 10.
  • Setting up new workstations, laptops and iOS/Android devices.
  • Active Directory e.g. user admin, password resets.
  • Understanding of MS Office 365 support and administration.
  • MS One Drive configuration and permissions.
  • Setting up network printers.
  • Network patching.

Additional Information

The role is based in our offices in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh where we work within a hybrid working system. All new joiners are expected to be office based until fully trained.
