The O&M Assistant role is a 6-month fixed term contract + Private health insurance & other benefits. Responsibilities- Operate and monitor plant systems safely and efficiently in accordance with operational and environmental standards.
- Support planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including emergency repairs and plant adjustments.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and report equipment defects, hazards, and operational issues.
- Maintain high standards of plant cleanliness and housekeeping at all times.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, waste management regulations, and site safety procedures.
- Safely operate vehicles, lifting tools, and equipment as required for plant operations.
- Accurately record operational data, maintenance activities, and inspection findings in site reporting systems.
- Happy to work a 6-month fixed term contract.
- Previous experience in a plant operations, waste management, energy, or industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures and compliance requirements.
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and performing manual or heavy-lifting tasks.
- Good IT literacy and ability to use computer-based monitoring and reporting systems.
- Strong work ethic, practical, safety-conscious mindset.
- Level-headed and reliable under pressure, particularly during plant upsets or emergencies.
- Collaborative and proactive, with a positive attitude toward continuous improvement and teamwork.
- Basic salary up to £36,300 per annum pro rata (6-months).

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting for an Electrical Commissioning Technician to join the commissioning team for their OCGT plant based in Stewartby, Bedfordshire on an initial 4‑month contract basis.
The Electrical Commissioning Technician position comes with a day rate from £400.00 to £475.00 outside of IR35.
Responsibilities and Key Skills- Hands‑on commissioning of electrical components and systems such as transformers, medium/low voltage switchgears, DC systems, rectifiers, inverters, motorised valves and instruments; fully competent at using Primary & Secondary Injection test set equipment.
- Assist the commissioning engineers in carrying out testing on electrical systems and equipment, as well as system optimisation and troubleshooting, and filling in the respective commissioning documentation and protocols.
- Participate in walk‑downs for turnover from construction to commissioning, identifying open items that prevent system start‑up.
- Prepare the site for the electrical team to plan ahead for site works.
- Report to the Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer for the project.
- At least 7 years of working experience in power station electrical (MV/LV and I&C) commissioning activities with demonstrable experience in a leading role in projects of similar relevance as an Electrical Technician.
- Strong team spirit, working with an international team and other cultures.
- Excellent communication skills.
