What you’ll be doing

As a supervisor you will be heavily involved in the day to day running of the store, keeping operations running smoothly and driving service excellence. Using your customer-oriented positive attitude to lead your team to success.

  • Teach others about efficient workflow, great customer service and company values
  • Manage sales expectations, keep wastage low and assist with stock ordering and inventory
  • Proactively maintain all compliance standards. Ensure a clean, safe, fully operational coffee station
  • Make outstanding coffee products. Show off your latte art, get creative and the team will follow!

Black Sheep Coffee is seeking a highly motivated, detail‑oriented and commercially astute Finance Business Partner to join our dynamic team. As a Finance Business Partner, you will business partner C‑suite stakeholders within the business to drive growth across our shop network.

This is a highly commercial role, with limited month‑end close responsibilities, and is suitable for someone seeking to demonstrate and develop their analytical and influencing skills in a fast‑growing multi‑site retail business.

Role responsibilities
  • Business partner the Chief Growth Officer and their team on growing our shop network, principally by supporting the rollout of the franchise programme and appraising new sites
  • Build strong external relationships with our franchisees, becoming their trusted partner within the finance team. This includes presenting materials at franchisee inductions, reviewing franchise business cases and financing applications, and identifying opportunities to drive profitable growth
  • Own the franchise Four‑Wall EBITDA methodology and monthly analysis, creating an accurate picture of franchise shop performance to help our corporate team identify key trends
  • Own the franchise forecast database model, containing details of our forecast pipeline of franchise shop commitments and progress against contractual targets
  • Prepare insightful month‑end analysis and commentary on franchise performance and our new shop opening programme, including identifying risks and opportunities versus budget
  • Support the preparation of the monthly management accounts by reviewing all franchise related postings, and preparing some limited journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the preparation of the annual franchise budget and periodic reforecasts, including owning all key assumptions, preparing output submissions, and presenting these to the Finance Director
  • Be the lead point of contact within the finance team on all franchise M&A activity
Skills & Experience Required
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Previous commercial finance experience, ideally within a retail, hospitality, franchising, or quick‑service environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling, and AI for finance
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with senior stakeholders and external parties
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Self‑starter and proactively drives the businesses growth agenda
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

  • Accounts Receivable: Oversee the raising of all franchise invoices accurately and on-time, ensuring timely collections and reconciliation of receipts
  • Payroll: Lead the preparation of monthly payroll for both Head Office and Stores, working with our dedicated payroll provider and our internal Operations and People teams
  • Vendor & Customer Relations: Proactively engage with suppliers to respond to queries and resolve reconciliation discrepancies, fostering clear communication and strong relationships
  • Deliver Insightful Reporting & Analysis: Prepare weekly and monthly reports for business leaders that provide key insights to support informed decision-making
  • Financial Reconciliation: Assist in reconciling bank transactions and general ledger accounts to maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records
  • Expense Analysis: Support employee expense processing and help identify trends or areas for improvement in reporting, compliance, and efficiencies

Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a finance department, with experience in a multi-site retail environment preferred but not essential

Key Responsibilities 1. Franchisee Support & Business Development
  • Act as the primary contact for franchise partners, conducting regular business reviews to support their growth and success.
  • Develop tailored plans for each location, focusing on improving performance against KPIs such as Brand & Compliance Audits, Google Ratings, Sales, Product Availability, and Customer Wait Times.
  • Collaborate with franchisees to identify new and exciting locations to expand their portfolio, supporting them in navigating the expansion process.
2. Operational Excellence
  • Ensure all franchised locations adhere to Black Sheep Coffee’s operational standards, health & safety policies, and brand guidelines.
  • Conduct regular site visits, including unannounced audits during different trading periods, to maintain high operational standards.
  • Collaborate with franchisees to implement continuous improvement strategies for their stores.
3. P&L Ownership & Reporting
  • Support franchisees in understanding their P&L and financial reports, providing insights to improve profitability.

  • Cascade communications and business updates to franchisees, ensuring alignment and clarity.
4. Team Engagement & Development
