Job Description
At British Gypsum we're looking for a Mine Electrical Engineer to work on a rotating shift pattern (inclusive of mornings, afternoons and nights) as part of a small but mighty shift team playing a key part in how our biggest and oldest mine successfully operates. You'll safely carry out and deliver both preventative & professional electrical maintenance to maximise our mine's efficiency by actively utilising continuous improvement techniques and delivering the highest standards.
British Gypsum is part of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS). Much of Britain has been built with British gypsum. Gypsum is the vital raw material at the heart of our plaster and plasterboard, and much of it is mined, milled and made in Britain. We have been mining gypsum for more than 150 years, a heritage we're very proud of.
What we're looking for:
- 18th Edition qualification as a minimum
- Level 3 apprenticeship or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Underground mining experience would be highly advantageous, however other heavy industries would suit
- Hands on HV and LV experience
- A strong sense of H&S for both yourself and your colleagues, with the ability to challenge and identify risk
- Experience maintaining mobile plant or similar equipment
What you will be doing:
- You'll be accountable for your own and your colleagues' health and safety, whilst ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standard. You will be expected to have an analytical mind and be able to apply those skills to problem solving and decision making and be able to clearly communicate with others.
- Demonstrating a positive and proactive approach, with a continuous improvement mindset, as well as both reactive and planned electrical maintenance work across diesel vehicles, conveyors, crushers, the work will include both installation and testing of electrical equipment, both LV and HV, as well as industrial electrical works
- The tasks in which you'll apply the continuous improvement tools will involve all aspects of the mine equipment operation, to professional maintenance.

- Experience in an underground mining environment or similar would be advantageous, otherwise proven competency as an operator of material handling/ heavy plant and equipment would be essential
- Openness to working underground on a shift pattern

What will I be doing in the role?
Our Mine Operatives are integral to our success. In this role you'll:
- Be fully committed to high safety standards
- Be an integral member of the Mine Production team & operate front line production machinery (full training will be given on each piece of equipment). The machinery includes mechanised cutting machinery, loading machines, rock transportation machinery and shovel loaders.
- Follow directions to ensure extraction width and height is in accordance with Mine Design.

Senior R&D Lead- Building Systems
At Saint-Gobain we are looking for a Senior R&D Lead - Building Systems to join our Central Innovation R&D centre in East Leake, helping to deliver innovative building systems and solutions for construction markets worldwide.
This role sits within our central innovation function, focused on understanding how products and systems perform within real building applications. Working closely with customers, project teams and international stakeholders, you'll play a key role in developing technical system knowledge, supporting full-scale testing programmes and identifying new solutions to complex construction and performance challenges.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a higher scientific, civil engineering or building systems background who enjoys combining technical expertise, customer understanding and hands-on problem solving within a highly collaborative R&D environment.

What we're looking for:
- Degree/higher degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering/science discipline.
- Experience working within building systems, construction products, technical engineering or R&D environments.
- Strong understanding of structural calculations, system performance and how products function within real building applications.
- Experience of creation (CAD) and interpretation of technical drawings.
- Knowledge of normative frameworks
- Experience supporting testing programmes, interpreting standards, norms and technical results and communicating findings to a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to understand customer challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
What you will be doing:
- Support and lead full-scale system testing programmes, analysing performance and identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Work closely with customers, project teams and international stakeholders to understand technical requirements and system challenges.
- Provide technical expertise around building systems, structural performance and product application within construction environments.
- Support / lead certification process
- Coordinate and communicate testing activity, technical findings and project progress across R&D and wider business teams.
- Contribute to the development of innovative system solutions that improve performance, compliance and customer value.

Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions (SGIS) are looking for a Quality and Process Control Manager for our British Gypsum manufacturing site in Barrow on Trent , to ensure that our manufacturing processes and products meet industry standards, customer requirements and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in our quest to achieve our silver World Class Manufacturing (WCM) accreditation, by driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, and fostering a culture of quality excellence within our organisation. You'll be an inspirational leader, as you'll be part of the Senior Leadership on site - you'll take ownership of the Quality and Process control function and develop your team and our site to be the best they can be.

This is a full-time site-based role, working Monday-Friday days (however of course they may be times you'd need to work outside of these hours dependant on business needs). We can be flexible on start and finish times providing core working hours are covered. What we're looking for:
- Qualified to Degree Level or equivalent in a Scientific or Technical Discipline or have demonstrable professional experience in a similar role
- A background in Continuous Improvement/Lean/Sigma/ Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Quality and Process management in a manufacturing environment (incl. Failure Modes & Effects Analysis & Control Plan)
- Demonstrable leadership skills, both from a SLT and team management perspective
- Working knowledge and understanding of the regulations, quality standards applicable to product plus the requirements of ISO9001:2015 and Factory Process Control.
- Change Management, interpreting manufacturing feasibility and associated risk to compliance, product parameters, and processes
- Project management experience
- World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Instructor / Quality & Process Control Pillar Leader would be desirable
- Experience in auditing for ISO9001, Internal Auditor and External Audit Management
- Six Sigma Greenbelt Qualification or equivalent
What will you be doing?
- You will be responsible, first and foremost for the health and safety of staff members
- You'll hold a key role within the site SLT, and work collaboratively with other leaders to deliver results through developing and leading people by demonstrating appropriate levels of challenge, support, and feedback
- Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining quality management systems to ensure that manufacturing processes and products meet industry standards
- You'll be playing a key part in driving continuous improvement, reducing defects, and fostering a culture of quality excellence in the organisation
- Lead the development of the WCM Pillar and manage projects and budgets
- Manage the Laboratory and site wide Control Plans to meet ISO 9001, BBA, FPC and WCM Q&PC pillar requirements
- Create a culture that supports continual development of credible experts by identifying and developing talent within the quality team to ensure delivery of sustained results
