This fast-growing financial services business provides bespoke alternative funding options to UK businesses, including cash flow finance, invoice finance, property finance, and asset funding. With a supportive finance team of 7 in London (plus an additional 5 overseas), you’ll be part of a collaborative and growing function with great scope for career development.

Overview

The Role: As Accounts Assistant, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the finance team, assisting with purchase and sales ledger, bank reconciliations, loan reconciliations, VAT returns, and month-end reporting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in accounts to progress their career in a fast-paced professional environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing supplier invoices, expenses, and weekly payment runs
  • Raising customer invoices and debtor management
  • Performing bank reconciliations and posting transactions
  • Supporting month-end (journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations)
  • Assisting with cashflow and loan account reconciliations
  • Helping prepare VAT returns and compliance documentation
  • General finance admin and ad hoc tasks as needed
About You (Qualifications and Skills)
  • Good academics including a degree education or if not, at least 3 Bs at A level or equivalent
  • At least 18 months previous finance or accounts experience (purchase/sales ledger, reconciliations, etc.)
  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and experience of expenses, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Studying towards AAT or ACCA (or similar)
  • Strong Excel skills, ideally with accounting software experience (Sage or similar)
  • Detail-oriented, organised, and eager to learn
  • Strong communication skills and a team player

What you will be doing

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned audit professional who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of complex audits, and delivering real impact across governance, risk, and control in a dynamic banking environment.

The successful candidate will lead and deliver risk-based audits across areas including financial and regulatory reporting, treasury, credit, and risk management, while also assessing control effectiveness and ensuring timely issue resolution. This individual will be expected to lead audits end-to-end with minimal oversight, providing assurance on the adequacy of control environment and processes across key areas. The role requires a proactive approach in understanding and evaluating the risk profile of auditable entities, identifying control deficiencies, communicating findings effectively, and ensuring timely resolution in collaboration with management and the Audit Committee. Who we are looking for
  • A minimum of 6-8 years’ audit experience within the financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK regulatory expectations, including PRA/FCA.
  • Experience with ILAAP, ICAAP, credit, treasury, and regulatory reporting.
  • Professional qualification such as CIA, ACA, ACCA, or CISA.
  • The ability to work independently, produce high-quality reports, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Confidence in integrating IT and data considerations into audit work.

In the role you will be responsible for preparing senior management reports and presentations to different committees within the bank. You will help oversee the bank’s risk profile, support the implementation of risk strategies, and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies. You will provide essential oversight of daily risk controls, contribute to the development and review of risk policies, and deliver insightful reporting to senior management and key committees.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a risk-focused role within a bank. (e.g., operational risk, regulatory reporting, conduct risk).
  • Experience of design and implementation of KRI's.
  • Strong experience of risk monitoring and reporting.

We are seeking a Finance Team Member to join our dynamic organization. In this role, you will be a crucial part of the Finance team, responsible for managing trading portfolio accounting tasks, daily P&L reporting, preparing accruals and prepayments schedules, posting journals, and assisting with the preparation of management accounts for trading entities.
