We have a friendly rural team made up of 11 individuals based in our Winchester office, working alongside 40 other property professionals, Our office in Winchester handles the full range of rural surveying, including estate management, property agency, valuations, rural grant applications, compensation, landlord and tenant matters and delivering national framework contracts, throughout the South East.

• Day-to-day professional advice to a mixed portfolio of clients. Helping the team expand and mange internal succession of clients.
• Being responsible and first point of contact for a number of existing clients. Managing those clients to service existing and future professional needs. Consistently providing sound and reasoned advice.
• Management of rural estates and property portfolios, providing strategic advice to farm and estate clients, drafting agreements, doing deals, generally dealing with a wide range of jobs centred around providing property advice to our clients.
• Working with the Partners to expand the team by identifying and developing viable fee earning opportunities.
• Working closely with other specialist teams including planning and development, valuation, energy and infrastructure, agency and natural capital to deliver and develop new fee opportunities from existing and new clients.
• Actively assist in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes optimising IT and other resources.
• Implement policy as required and ensure legal, professional, and corporate compliance on all work carried out.
• Assisting with pitch reporting and presentations.

You’ll be joining a small but ambitious team, where autonomy, initiative, and a collaborative spirit are highly valued—and where your ideas will shape the future direction from day one.

Our infrastructure team is the fastest growing of its kind in the country, now with 180 people in seven offices around the UK, working with major clients including Network Rail, HS2, National Highways, National Grid, Homes England and the Crown Estate.

This is an exciting opportunity for an effective individual to become part of our team that delivers real change to people’s lives. You will deal with a wide range of property clients from local Councils and London Boroughs, Network Rail, DfT, TfL, Water companies, and Telecoms providers to homeowners, farmers, equestrian and agri businesses and small and multinational commercial businesses. You will take an active part in assisting with the negotiation of acquisition and relocation packages for a range of property types including farming businesses, commercial and industrial businesses and residential property, supporting the consenting and delivery of major infrastructure projects.

Your work each day will vary; you could be supporting with gaining consent for access across third party land, negotiating lease events, acquiring land and buildings, negotiating business relocations, asset acquisitions and disposals, valuations and contributing to strategic land acquisition reports. You will undertake site visits, meet clients and colleagues, and attend public consultation events.

You will take an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes, optimising IT and other resources. You will gain experience in some specialised and sought-after skills including land assembly negotiations and compulsory purchase. Our in-house Academy training course will give you a head start with over 20 hours of CPD. Clients are at the heart of what we do, so ensuring you develop and maintain strong relationships with our clients is essential, this includes attending client meetings and preparing communications and reports.

Candidates applying to Infrastructures will be from a variety of backgrounds; we are interested in receiving applications from students available to join us in Autumn 2025 who have a keen interest in the infrastructure of our country and the ways we can make a difference to the world we live in. You will be from land management, environmental, infrastructure, planning & development, land administration, geography, real estate and various educational backgrounds, and you will develop a broad understanding of the role in the entire property/real estate lifecycle—from land registration/mapping to management to development to remediation and reuse.

Ideally you will have a RICS accredited degree; however we do welcome applications from candidates with non-accredited degrees and other relevant qualifications. For GIS and Geospatial opportunities, you will be able to follow the CICES: Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors and RGS: Royal Geographic Society as Chartered GIS / Geographers. Looking for a rural surveying role that will allow you to get out and about across East Anglia, and the East Midlands without being pigeonholed into a particular discipline? We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Planner , with experience of Planning Act 2008 procedures to join Carter Jonas’ Infrastructure Consents team. The role can be based out of Leeds, London or Birmingham.

Our experienced and fast-growing team is already delivering on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) across various project sectors including rail, road, energy, high voltage transmission, business and commercial NSIPs. The Consents team has a proven track record of advising on a huge range of infrastructure projects across a wide spectrum of consent regimes including, but not limited to, DCOs, TWAOs, Section 36 projects and conventional TCPA projects. The team has managed and recently submitted four DCOs, a multi-billion-pound TWAO, and several smaller renewable TCPA applications, and we have more projects currently starting their NSIP journey.
