About the role

In the role of this BESS Design Engineer you will play a key role establishing engineering design processes within the BESS project delivery organization. Besides leading the process definitions, you will be at the centre of a key aspect of the project delivery requirement interfacing directly with the customer, internal teams and other project stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Support the pre-contracts and global product solutions team from the BAFO stage to have the overall oversight of the project’s technical ER (Employer Requirements), local design compliance, grid code compliance and determine the scope of agreed design deliverables in contracts for the DC, AC and control products
  • Participate in customer communications, bid technical support, and other related work
  • Provide technical support for DC and AC products (DC Container, PCS, LV/MV transformers, switchgears) during the pre-sales phase.
  • Support in coordination with cross functional teams to develop competitive solutions in response to project non-standard requirements (RMT)
  • Take ownership of product solution from NTP until manufacturing design freeze
  • Coordinate with global product solutions team to issue project specific documentation
  • Support country level project technical leads across projects to ensure design topics are being are achieved on time across projects (grid modelling, HAZID, HAZOP, FRA, ERP and ESR topics)
  • Develop and maintain of standard design package to optimize reaching design freeze with BESS BoP (Balance of Plant), adhering to Envision's engineering standards and guidelines
  • Drive the standardisation of design processes, templates, and submission protocols
  • Leading and executing detailed design activities for large-scale projects in new markets with no local technical team presence
  • Work closely with PPC/SCADA supplier for project specific documentation and features
  • Continuously improve processes related to product solution management, to enhance product solutions competitiveness



Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related discipline
  • 8+ years of extensive experience in leading utility scale BESS project engineering design. Experience in completing projects across different countries is a plus
  • Experience in defining design engineering processes and strategies
  • Experience in commissioning phase is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a creative approach to engineering challenges
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively interface with internal teams, external stakeholders, and project partners

You will play a critical role in ensuring health and safety compliance, with a particular focus on electrical safety in Low Voltage (LV) and High Voltage (HV) environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations, especially within the energy and construction sectors.
  • Conduct regular, independent site inspections, audits, and risk assessments on active BESS projects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain BESS-specific health and safety plans and procedures.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training to employees and contractors.
  • Promote best practices in electrical safety, with an emphasis on LV and HV systems.
  • Maintain and update safety records including RAMS, audit reports, incident logs, and training records.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • 5-7 years of relevant EHS experience in the energy or construction sectors
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification)
  • In-depth knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and applicable codes of practice
  • Proven background in the energy or construction sectors
  • Demonstrated experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols and practices
  • Ability to design and implement practical safety strategies and site-specific controls

A (BESS) Field Service Engineer assists with the Device research and testing protocols; write battery testing schedules; install production equipment or systems. Data collection, analysis, statistical understanding, writing and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) Prepare contracts, disclosures, applications, procedural documents, and technical reports. Carries out planned and unplanned maintenance.

The role will work extensively with other stakeholders within the (BESS) team, including MEP, Development, and Construction to ensure that any factors that impact the effective operation of our BESS assets are understood and actively managed.

  • Develop an Operation and Maintenance function to fulfil our asset management and O&M objectives as our asset base grows.

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that operational and technical escalations are managed in line with regulatory, contractual & commercial obligations.

  • Assist with phone support and remote diagnostics to customers.

  • Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and or project work.
  • Provide suggestions based on field experiences to improve products.

Position Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic vision for quality, setting quality objectives and targets. Lead the Quality function and build a strong quality culture throughout the organization. Provide quality expertise and guidance to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Position Qualifications

  • Work Experience: At least 5 years in quality management within the energy storage or renewable energy sector, with a minimum of 3 years in multinational or European projects; experience with battery storage systems, PCS, or power station equipment preferred.
  • Quality Systems & Regulations: Proficient in ISO9001, ISO14001, IATF16949; familiar with European and international standards (CE, IEC, UN38.3 battery safety, REACH, RoHS); experienced in internal audits and supplier audits.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, 8D, SPC, APQP, PPAP); capable of data analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation; able to define and monitor regional quality KPIs.
