Job DescriptionWhat will you be doing?
We’re seeking a talented individual to join our Financial Planning team in Bracknell. However if you are based in Reading or the M4 corridor this would be beneficial as you will be travelling to visit clients in the home counties region. Whilst there would be a requirement to go into the Bracknell office from time to time there is flexibility.
As Associate Director Financial Planning, your responsibilities will include among others:
- Looking after and supporting client needs. Building new client relationships and maintaining existing client relationships through effective ongoing service to help minimise attrition, and to deliver new instructions and referrals as a result of satisfied clients
- Execute the annual Business Plan in line with agreed individual targets
- Structure and lead client meetings in a professional manner, ensuring all information and advice provided is up to date, technically accurate and meets clients’ needs
- Ensuring clients have the right advice to achieve their financial objectives, while understanding and considering the impact of factors such as retirement planning, inheritance, and tax efficiency for individual clients
- Ensuring client reviews are undertaken at least annually in line with clients’ changing risk attitudes and strategic requirements
- Working in partnership with Investment Management (IM) and Professional Services (PS) colleagues to develop client relationships
- Building and maintain COIs to initiate and nurture close relationships with professional advisers
- Maintain the New Business Pipeline (NBP) and ensure all values and dates are up to date
- Ensure comprehensive client records are kept and that these are accurate and up to date at all times and in line with Group policy
- To strive for no complaints and where they are received ensure that they are raised with the Client Resolution team in a timely fashion and assist in bringing them to a satisfactory resolution
- Ensure that knowledge and skills are maintained and developed in line with industry, regulatory and internal requirements by undertaking regular and appropriate CPD in order to reach their full potential (for the wider benefit of the Group)
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you should:
- Proven ability to deal with new and existing clients on a fee basis
- Ability to understand and communicate advice practices and processes clearly and effectively
- Ability to analyse client information and highlight requirements to make suitable recommendations. Experience of operating within a risk management framework
- Technical/product knowledge and effective communication of wide ranging holistic financial planning strategies & solutions
- A strong ethic of client service / ability to work under pressure and to prioritise work
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Have a thorough understanding of the risks and threats pertaining to a private client business
Professional Qualifications and Education
- Holds a relevant level 4 qualification or above (aspiring for Level 7) and maintains an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing

To be successful in this role, you should:
- Previous experience in IT Service Management (ITIL), ideally within Change, Release, or Transition

- Ability to assess risk, apply structured challenge, and support governance decisions
- Experience working in multi-system, multi-vendor environments
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and present data for decision making
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- ITIL Foundation v4, with further ITIL qualifications desirable

- Problem analysis and resolution for application problems, in conjunction with the business users and third‑party suppliers where necessary
- Participate in testing and release management
- Previous experience of working in Wealth Management or similar with an understanding of portfolio management suites and trading platforms
- Previous experience in an application support role or similar
- Proficient IT skills in core Microsoft Office systems
- Previous experience/awareness of SQL, Rest API, JIRA, and Confluence
- Analytical way of thinking along with an eye for detail and be a first‑class problem solver
- Delivery focused, able to multi‑task, and very much a team player
- Knowledge of key applications such as Iress, Avaloq, Fidessa would be highly desirable
