Overview

Excellent opportunity for an experienced, qualified candidate to join the team in one of our children's residential homes. We are a rapidly expanding organisation who are currently offering a very competitive salary plus benefits including a quality bespoke training package and generous remuneration for sleep-in shifts. We specialise in supporting Children and Young People who have suffered early life trauma, neglect or abuse and may display challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring shifts are planned with Residential Support Workers
  • To ensure that all risks are safely managed in line with the company policies and procedures
  • To communicate effectively with the team regarding the plans for the day
  • To provide reports and documentation that reflects the progress of the young person using our paperless systems and tools
  • To review the young people's care plans and other associated documentation
Job Requirements
  • To provide positive parenting
  • To have exceptional communication skills
  • To have sound working knowledge of current legislation e.g., Children's Homes Regulations 2015 (including quality standards)
  • To be open minded, empathetic in a calm and professional manner
Essential Requirements
  • Must have a full manual driving licence
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent
  • To participate in further continuing professional development support the needs of our young people
  • To have a clear passion and desire to support children and young people
  • To be active member of a progressive and committed team

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Team Leader/Deputy Manager to join our Residential Children’s Home, providing care and support for children with learning disabilities. In this role you will assist young people with learning disabilities in their day‑to‑day activities, personal care, and emotional development, fostering independence and well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and support to children with learning disabilities, ensuring their safety, dignity and well‑being.
  • Oversee and support staff in managing behaviours, helping young people move from external control toward self‑control.
  • Safeguard children and young people and maintain overall wellbeing.
  • Assist the manager with daily and weekly tasks and documentation, such as Statement of Purpose, Regulation 45 reports, risk assessments.
  • Administer personal care tasks (hygiene, dressing, feeding) as required.
  • Support children in educational and recreational activities within the home and in the community, promoting social inclusion.
  • Develop positive, trusting relationships to promote emotional development and self‑confidence.
  • Implement individual care plans tailored to each child’s needs, supporting growth and independence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals (social workers, therapists) to provide holistic care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and nurturing environment.
  • Monitor and document children’s progress, behaviours and changes in needs or care requirements.
  • Support children in managing emotions and behaviours through de‑escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training and development opportunities.
  • Build positive relationships with relatives and outside agencies, facilitating and supervising family visits.
  • Identify potential abuse or neglect and follow Whistle Blowing/Safeguarding procedures.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs.
  • Some supervisory experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Diploma level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with children and work effectively in a team.
  • Caring, patient, and empathetic attitude, committed to promoting the rights and well‑being of children.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly, professionally and positively.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, public holidays and sleep‑in duties.
  • A desire to progress and develop within the role and embrace growth opportunities.
  • Keep up to date with legislation, national and local policies and issues.
  • Exercise vigilance in respect of Health and Safety and report hazards promptly.
  • A full driving licence is required, with business insurance.
