Job Description
Systems Performance Engineer | On-site (5 days/week) | Full-time, Permanent
Security Clearance: UK Nationals Only; this is due to the nature of and workload classification.
Fancy putting your maths where the mission is? Ever wanted your models to decide how far something flies and how accurately it hits its mark? This is that job.
We’re recruiting on behalf of a major name in UK defence engineering for a Systems Performance Engineer to join a high‑impact systems engineering team developing next‑generation Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK Armed Forces; across Air, Land and Sea domains.
You’ll be the person turning complex mathematical models into the answers that shape whether a design actually works. If you love the idea of your analysis directly influencing how a missile system is built, this is a rare shot at doing exactly that.
What you’ll actually be doing- Planning and running technical studies into missile performance using complex mathematical models — helping projects make the big design calls
- Digging into how the wider system affects performance, and chasing down the knock‑on impacts when something changes
- Teaming up with SMEs across Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Lethality, Guidance, Control & Navigation, and Seekers to build the full performance picture
- Presenting performance data clearly — in design reviews internally, and in performance statements to customers externally
- Helping shape training material for the next generation of engineers coming up behind you
- Excellent analytical skills — you like a problem with real rigour behind it
- Experience running and analysing complex computer simulations (think 6 Degrees of Freedom models)
- Solid MATLAB skills
- A track record using mathematical models to assess system behaviour
- Data analysis chops in MATLAB and Simulink (or similar)
- A knack for making technical data land with both expert and non‑expert audiences
- Some exposure to aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance or control principles
- Bonus: up to £2,500 (company performance dependent)
- Pension: up to 14% combined contribution
- Paid overtime available
- Flexi leave: up to 15 additional days on top of annual leave
- Enhanced parental leave: up to 26 weeks, plus enhancements for paternity, neonatal leave, and fertility treatment
- On‑site perks: subsidised meals, free parking, and more
Sound like your kind of challenge? If you’ve got the clearance eligibility and the technical grounding, we’d love to hear from you – apply now
