A well-established manufacturer of high-specification electronic and electromechanical products is looking to recruit a Manufacturing Team Leader to join its manufacturing team.

The Role

As the Manufacturing Team Leader, you will be responsible for supervising the encapsulation process for electromechanical assemblies while remaining hands‑on within production. You will lead a small team, ensure work is completed to production schedules, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the day‑to‑day activities of the encapsulation team.
  • Plan and allocate workload to meet production schedules and business priorities.
  • Carry out sealing, priming, potting and encapsulation of electromechanical assemblies.
  • Operate automated encapsulation and dispensing equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of encapsulation equipment and associated machinery.
  • Train and develop team members to ensure flexibility and cover across the department.
  • Complete production documentation, including non‑conformance and rework records.
  • Monitor build quality and ensure workmanship standards are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD procedures, quality standards and safe working practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement and support 5S initiatives within the department.
  • Maintain PPE compliance and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
  • Support ISO quality, environmental and health & safety management systems.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to achieve manufacturing targets.
The Candidate

The successful candidate will have previous experience within an encapsulation, potting or manufacturing environment and will be comfortable leading a small production team while remaining hands‑on.

You should have:

  • Previous experience within an encapsulation, potting or resin casting environment.
  • Supervisory or Team Leader experience within manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of mechanical or electromechanical assembly processes.
  • Experience operating and maintaining production equipment.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive approach to quality, safety and process improvement.
  • The ability to train, mentor and support production staff.

Skills & Experience

Previous experience within a Buyer, Purchasing or Supply Chain role in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Experience using ERP/MRP systems.

Good understanding of modern purchasing and inventory management techniques, including JIT and Kanban.

Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple departments.

Good commercial awareness with a proactive approach to cost reduction.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS would be advantageous.

Experience purchasing electronic components or technical products would be beneficial but is not essential.
