Meraki Talent is delighted to be working in partnership with a leading Chartered Accountancy firm to appoint a Head of Indirect Tax.

This is a newly created leadership role, offering the successful candidate the chance to shape and lead the firm's Indirect Tax service line across multiple offices.

The Opportunity

This is the first time the firm has appointed a dedicated Head of Indirect Tax, making it a unique career opportunity. Your expertise and leadership will set the tone for the service line's future direction. While the finer details will evolve once you are in post, the role is envisaged to include:

  • Designing and implementing the strategic direction of the Indirect Tax service line.
  • Building and developing a specialist team across multiple office locations.
  • Acting as the firm's subject matter expert and go-to leader in Indirect Tax.
  • Driving innovation, growth, and best practice across the service line.
  • Working closely with Partners and senior leadership to enhance client service delivery and expand market presence.

Our client is seeking an experienced general practice accounting professional looking for an exciting opportunity, and who is interested in taking their career to the next level. This is a rapidly growing, private owned mid-tier accountancy firm in Hertfordshire.

The position is open to individuals operating at a senior level already, with the option to become equity owner from day 1 or salaried partner.

With the recent additional of a new head of audit, the audit work will move toward a more dedicated service line and team so will eventually separate completely allowing this role to be % audit free.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a diverse portfolio of clients, provide expert financial reporting and management services.
  • Business Partner with clients, offering strategic business advice to clients, assisting them in achieving their financial goals and to enhance their operations.
  • Oversee, manage, and advise on tax compliance and advisory services, ensuring clients are not only informed of their obligations and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement growth strategies for the firm.
  • Mentor, coach, and train staff of all levels, from less experienced staff on training contracts through to mid manager level, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications:
  • ACA/ACCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive experience in general practice, with a strong background in financial reporting, management, and tax.
  • Proven history of building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • A strategic mindset with a passion for driving growth and innovation.
