About the Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Forklift Driver to join our team based in Oldham .

We’re looking for someone with a FLT Counterbalance and Reach license that can move and record goods with a consistent level of accuracy, and a focus on safety. If this sounds like you, read on to find out more.

You will be working Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern of 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.

This Forklift Driver role involves moving goods around our site and warehouses, ensuring all safety requirements are met. You will be responsible for loading and unloading deliveries, and stacking, transporting, and recording various items and pallets for storage and delivery.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

• operating a forklift/reach truck to load, unload, move, and rearrange stock.
• basic operation of the palletiser system and conveyor.
• following all site safety rules to maintain a safe working environment, reporting any near misses, incidents, and injuries.
• carrying-out pre-use safety checks and ensuring accurate records are kept.
• ensuring 100% accuracy when loading and unloading by checking all products against paperwork.
• performing daily and weekly cleaning tasks.
• checking products are labelled correctly and put away in the correct locations and scanning pallets.
• achieving output targets set through effective teamworking.
• assisting with stocktakes.
• providing the correct pallet types required for production orders.

Essential skills:

• FLT Counterbalance and Reach licence

Desirable skills:

About the Role

As a manufacturing apprentice, you will learn all aspects of the papermaking process to become a fully competent manufacturing operative at the end of the 3‑year apprenticeship.

This manufacturing apprentice role will enable you to learn the skills required to assist the production department, resources and systems to ensure the company maintains a high‑quality product, always in line with company policies, regulatory standards and statutory guidelines / deadlines.

At the end of the 3‑year apprenticeship with the training provided and qualifications achieved we expect that you will become fully competent in being a manufacturing operative and be able to complete the following duties:

• Set up different machines.
• Run the machine to create a pulp that will be used to produce paper.
• Complete quality and productivity checks.
• Undertake routine maintenance while maintaining safety and reliability standards and working as part of a team.

The apprenticeship would initially be a days based role, working Monday to Friday 8am – 4.30pm. At some point during your apprenticeship, you may be expected to work on shifts (6am – 6pm or 6pm – 6am).

Please be aware that the qualifications to be completed for this apprenticeship take place in weekly blocks either in Grimsby or online. So you will need to stay in Grimsby for about 6 weeks in a year (the company will pay all expenses).

Northwood is seeking candidates for a role in Ellesmere Port focused on the safe transport of materials within the manufacturing facility. Candidates should hold a valid Counterbalance B2 licence and have a willingness to handle heavy materials while adhering to safety protocols.

• Removal and transport of large bulky items from the factory (e.g. waste skips and core cages).

• Valid Counterbalance B2 licence with Clamp attachment.
• If your B2 Clamp licence is in‑house only, training must have been delivered by an Instructor certified in RTITB, ITSSAR, CITB, or another certified body.
• Willingness to move heavy materials across our manufacturing site, prioritising and promoting safety at all times.
• Collaborative approach, supporting with deep‑cleans and adopting a clean‑as‑you‑go approach.
• Ideally, experience operating in a paper converting or reel storage environment (or transferable knowledge and skills).
