Location: Manchester, M3 5NA.
Work hours: 37.5 hr per week, full‑time.
Shift pattern: 8 am – 4:30 pm, 9 am – 5:30 pm, 9:30 am – 6 pm – rotating basis, with some weekends.
Training and induction: two weeks onsite, require availability 9 am – 5:30 pm.
Induction intake: July / August 2026.
Salary: £23,809.50 per annum.
Post‑probation: hybrid work may be considered 1 day per week based on targets achieved.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Patient Call Handler to serve as the first point of contact for patients, handling inbound and outbound calls, registering patients, managing appointment enquiries, sending appointment letters, reminding patients of appointments, tracking cancellations, and filling vacant slots from the waiting list. Strict confidentiality, sensitivity, discretion, empathy and professionalism are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately register patients and assist with enquiries regarding appointments and GP referrals.
- Agree appointment dates and times with patients over the telephone and promptly send out appointment letters.
- Remind patients of appointment times and dates by telephone.
- Track cancellations of appointments and offer vacant slots to other patients on the waiting list.
- Handle high volumes of inbound and outbound patient calls in a professional, friendly and courteous manner.
- Provide excellent quality patient care at all times.
- Type clinic letters using a transcription/clinical system and send to GPs and relevant departments.
- Work to targets and maintain required performance.
- Use clear analytical thinking to support decision‑making.
- Work effectively as part of a team to promote a positive team spirit.
- Show sensitivity and assertiveness as appropriate.
- Have experience in a customer‑service position.
- Be motivated and able to work independently.
