Overview

Rapid Personnel are currently recruiting for Forklift Drivers to join our client in Newbury. This role involves general warehouse duties as well as forklift driving. You will need to confidently operate a forklift, with a valid and accredited licence.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and process incoming stock, including unpacking, labeling, and organizing items in appropriate storage locations.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move and stack items as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that safety guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks as needed.
Requirements
  • Previous experience using forklift (Counterbalance, Pivot Steer, Reach ideally).
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse or similar environment is required.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

  • Shift patterns and rates:
    • Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00, rotating shifts – £15.80 per hour
    • Sunday night – Thursday night, 22:00-06:00 – £16.99 per hour

Rapid Personnel are recruiting for Machine Operatives to work with one of the UK’s leading food manufacturers based in Newport. This is a vital position within the factory operations to ensure daily tasks are running efficiently.

This is a temp-to-perm position and after 12 weeks you will be offered a permanent contract with the company directly. If you are looking for job security, then consider joining the largest manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe work environment and monitor equipment.
  • Ensure that the weights, vacuum, torque and codes for each product is correct.
  • Ensure that the labels and packaging is correct for the product.
  • Carry out cleaning procedures.
  • Change over the machines for product and line changes.
  • Manufacture the product to the required specification, in a quality and hygienic manner.
  • Carrying out safety checks on the machinery.
  • Lifting and manoeuvring stock items up to 20kg.

All roles offer career progression and opportunities for permanent employment. Full training will be provided along with nationally recognised food hygiene qualifications.

Available shifts:

Rotating shift - Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:00 and 14:00-22:00 - £14.50 to £14.90 per hour

OR

Night shift - Sunday to Thursday, 22:00-06:00 - £15.59 to £16.02 per hour

37.5 hours /week

This position would be suitable for anyone who has worked as a Warehouse Operative, Production Operative, Factory Operative, Production Line Worker, Packing Operative, Machine Operative.

Located on the outskirts of Newport, we now provide a transportation to and from the site, with pick up/drop off points in Cardiff and Newport at a cost of £3/day.

A Multi-Wickman Setter is responsible for setting, operating, and maintaining Wickman multi-spindle machines used in high-volume production of precision components. The role involves tooling setup, machine adjustments, and ensuring consistent product quality while meeting production targets.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Wickman multi-spindle machines for production runs

  • Install and align tooling, cams, and attachments according to engineering drawings

  • Adjust machine settings to achieve optimal performance and cycle times

  • Monitor production output to ensure components meet quality standards

  • Perform inspections using measuring equipment (micrometres, verniers, gauges)

  • Diagnose and resolve machine faults, tooling issues, and production problems

  • Work closely with quality and engineering teams to improve processes

  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations at all times

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Wickman setter/operator or similar multi-spindle role
  • Strong understanding of mechanical cam-operated machines
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of materials, tooling, and cutting processes
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
