THE BUSINESS   
Our client is a market leader within the Chemical Sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure raw materials, consumables, and services in a cost-effective manner
• Identify, evaluate, and audit suppliers to ensure compliance and quality standards
• Negotiate contracts to achieve optimal pricing, lead times, and terms
• Liaise with Commercial and Production teams to align purchasing with operational needs
• Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock

Key Duties

The Opportunity

Westray Recruitment Group is recruiting 15 to 20 reliable and safety-conscious drivers to support the arrival of large car vessels carrying brand-new vehicles.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a busy port environment, driving brand‑new cars from the vessel and parking them safely in designated bays.

Please be aware that this is not consistent, full‑time employment. On average, successful candidates can expect approximately two 12‑hour shifts every 10 days. Work is dependent on vessel arrivals, and shift dates, times and availability may change at short notice.

The first vessel is currently expected to arrive on 10th August 2026; however, vessel schedules are subject to change.

The Role

As a Port Vehicle Movement Driver, you will board the vessel and carefully drive brand‑new vehicles to allocated parking areas within the port.

All vehicles are new, so the highest standards of care, cleanliness and professionalism must be maintained. Full PPE must be worn, and all procedures must be followed to protect both employees and the vehicles.

• Board the car vessel safely and follow all port and vessel procedures
• Drive brand‑new vehicles from the vessel to designated parking bays
• Manoeuvre and park vehicles carefully, accurately and efficiently
• Follow instructions from supervisors, banksmen and the vessel operations team
• Maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene when entering and operating vehicles
• Wear all required PPE correctly throughout each shift
• Conduct basic visual checks and report any damage or concerns immediately
• Handle vehicle keys in line with agreed procedures
• Potentially drive a minibus carrying up to eight passengers between operational areas
• Support the safe and efficient unloading of each vessel
• Follow all health and safety, traffic‑management and port‑security requirements

Driving Licence Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old
• Hold a full UK driving licence
• Have held the licence for a minimum of one year
• Have no more than six penalty points
• Be comfortable potentially driving a minibus carrying up to eight passengers

The Business

Westray Recruitment Group is seeking to recruit a Maintenance Person to work for our manufacturing‑based client based in Washington, Tyne & Wear. The role is day shift only.

The role would suit someone with general mechanical skills and some minor electrical knowledge to aid the upkeep of production‑based machinery aiding a manufacturing process. Candidates must hold hydraulic, pneumatic knowledge and be proficient with a range of hand tools to change dies and aid machine set up, as well as deliver maintenance activities.

The role of work is not heavy as it forms a light manufacturing industry and the role is well supported via outside contractor services. The business is long since established and in the main the repair processes are not overly complex. There is plenty of support available with the role.

We are seeking someone skilled within maintenance to repair, service, and maintain production equipment and site infrastructure using appropriate tools and materials. This role is critical to ensuring minimal disruption to operations, maintaining high‑quality standards, and supporting continuous production within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in responding to breakdowns, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting operational changes such as equipment reconfiguration, while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards.

The Role

• Carry out production breakdown maintenance, repairing or replacing equipment in line with the breakdown request system
• Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Maintaining chain driven conveyor belt systems
• Fixing air fed power tools
• Working to aid the basic upkeep and repair of packaging equipment, hydraulic punches and dies, saws, etc.
• Changing dies and aiding machine set up

THE ROLE

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading day-to-day production and maintenance activities within a high-volume plastic sheet extrusion operation, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective manufacturing while consistently delivering high-quality products.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing extrusion operations to maximise productivity, efficiency and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Planning labour resources and coordinating shift activities to achieve production schedules and customer delivery targets.

The ideal candidate will have experience within plastic extrusion manufacturing, preferably producing sheet products for food packaging or similar technical applications.
You will be able to demonstrate:
• Previous experience operating or managing plastic sheet extrusion processes, ideally involving PET-based materials.
• A good understanding of extrusion processing, polymer behaviour and manufacturing process controls.
• Knowledge of multi-layer extrusion, material blending systems and downstream converting operations would be advantageous.
• Experience leading production teams within a continuous manufacturing environment.
• A proven ability to analyse production issues, identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
• Familiarity with quality inspection techniques and precision measuring equipment used within plastics manufacturing.

THE ROLE
  
This is a hands-on estimating role where your understanding of machining processes will be key. A practical appreciation of how components are manufactured and the time involved in machining them is essential to ensure quotations are both accurate and competitive.

THE PERSON
 
We're looking for an Estimating Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering or machining background who understands manufacturing processes and can confidently estimate the time and cost involved in producing precision engineered components.
  
You may already have experience in an estimating role or be looking to move into estimating from a machining, manufacturing engineering or production engineering environment. Most importantly, you'll have the technical knowledge to accurately assess machining requirements and build reliable quotations for customers.
  
Ideally, you will have:  

• A background in mechanical engineering, machining or precision manufacturing.
• Experience estimating machining times and manufacturing costs within a machine shop environment.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and repair documentation.
• Experience preparing quotations or cost estimates for engineering or manufacturing projects.
• Good working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems together with Microsoft Excel and Word.
