About the Department
The Product Testing team is responsible for evaluating a broad range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety-related products to ensure they meet required performance and protection standards.
Products tested may include:
Protective gloves
Fall protection equipment
Motorcycle apparel
High-visibility clothing
Eye and face protection
Helmets
Hearing protection
Chainsaw protective clothing
Kneepads
Sports protection equipment
Other specialist protective products

The department operates accredited laboratory facilities equipped with advanced testing machinery and instruments. Test results are used to support product development, regulatory compliance, and certification requirements.
The team consists of skilled technicians, technologists, and support personnel who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality testing services to customers globally.

The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Technologist to join the Product Testing team.
Key responsibilities include:
Conduct routine physical testing in accordance with recognised international and European standards.
Operate laboratory equipment and accurately record test data in both electronic and hard-copy formats.
Prepare technical reports detailing test results and findings.
Liaise with customers via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings.
Respond to technical enquiries and advise customers on appropriate testing requirements.
Maintain accurate records and update job information using internal business systems.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and testing procedures.
Support business development and industry engagement activities, including seminars, webinars, exhibitions, and customer visits.
Comprehensive training will be provided where required.

Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Nuneaton, who are looking to recruit a Product Test Engineer to join their growing Product Development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced test engineer to play a key role in supporting new product development, working closely with Design Engineers, Quality, Approvals and Compliance teams to take products from initial concept through to successful production.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out product testing, analysing results, identifying improvements and ensuring products meet the required performance, reliability and regulatory standards.

The role will suit a proactive, hands-on engineer who enjoys problem solving, takes ownership of projects and has the initiative to drive improvements within a technical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out product testing and evaluation of new and existing products.
  • Record, analyse and report test data accurately.
  • Work closely with Design Engineers throughout the NPI process, from concept through to completion.
  • Support investigations into product performance issues and identify improvements.
  • Develop and improve testing methods and processes as part of a continuous improvement culture.
  • Use data logging equipment and computer-based testing systems.
  • Maintain accurate calibration records for test equipment.
  • Support compliance with relevant industry standards and legislation.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience within product testing, validation or a similar engineering environment.
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline preferred.
  • Strong practical, hands-on engineering skills.
  • Experience working to EN (phone number removed) standards essential .
  • Knowledge of Legionella awareness, water safety principles and water regulations advantageous.
  • Experience using Giussani testing equipment advantageous.
  • Comfortable working independently and using initiative to complete tasks.
