Our client, operating within the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Planned Preventative Maintenance Technician to join their Facilities & Maintenance team in Gloucester. This permanent role requires no regular travel and focuses on supporting on-site manufacturing operations by investigating technical issues and implementing improvements to enhance plant and equipment (P&E) availability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigating and resolving P&E technical issues affecting manufacturing performance
- Researching and collecting data to support solution development in collaboration with F&M and Project teams
- Designing, building, and testing improvements to P&E systems with a focus on increasing availability and efficiency
- Supporting integrated maintenance processes, including Operator First Line Maintenance, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Root Cause Analysis/FMEA, Predictive Maintenance, spare parts provisioning, and medium to long-term asset management
- Acting as the site focal point for calibration compliance, liaising with internal stakeholders and external contractors
- Administering the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Job Requirements:
- Qualified engineer or recent Engineering Graduate
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage personal workload
- Analytical thinker with good problem-solving skills
- Able to read and interpret specifications, regulatory documents, and methods of operation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail and strong quality awareness
- Self-motivated, with good team ethics and the ability to work independently
- Solid IT and mathematical skills
- A strong sense of "First Time Right" in task execution
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of machining and electroplating processes
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Familiarity with Lean Sigma disciplines and 5S principles
- Involvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce processing and manufacturing time

About The Role
To effectively carry out servicing and inspections of machinery ensuring we deliver a first class service to both internal & external customers. To actively seek revenue opportunities and discuss these with customers, Customer Support Representative’s and your Line Manager.
What you will be doing:
- Carry out maintenance servicing and inspections on Volvo construction equipment and miscellaneous equipment, submitting detailed inspection reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure work is carried out to high standards, delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ensure all work is checked & tested with a keen eye to detail & high quality of work carried out, at all times.
- Carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting to management where additional work may be required.
- Complete product updates / campaign work as instructed by the CSA Planners.
- Accurately complete systems/paperwork, including but not limited to oil sample reports, Matris readouts, component failure reports, Service Inspection Reports.
- Flexibility to work overtime as and when required and to honour reasonable call out requests.
- Work in accordance with SMTGB standards for health, safety, quality and environmental care.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience

- Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant.
- Be able to drive and handle heavy construction machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
- Be able to understand some technical literature, Inc service manuals, service bulletins and parts books.
- Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use email.
- High standards and attention to detail.
- Conscientious in all aspects of the job.
- Highly responsible, reliable, honest and trustworthy.
- Hold a full and valid UK Driving Licence
