Job Summary: The Clinical Editor plays a key role in supporting the growth of the business, reporting to the Operations Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-driven editor to take ownership of proofreading and refining clinical reports, ensuring they are accurate, consistent and delivered to an exceptional professional standard.

This is a fully remote role, offering £19.50 per hour (paid monthly in arrears), with a minimum of 10 hours per week and flexibility around working hours. There is potential for additional hours, although this is not guaranteed. An immediate start is available.

You will edit reports produced by Occupational Therapists, ranging from shorter reviews to detailed assessments of 90+ pages.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review and edit clinical reports following assessments and annual reviews, ensuring a high standard before issue
  • Work across both detailed assessment reports and shorter review documents
  • Ensure consistency in formatting, structure, tone and language
  • Manage documents through workflow stages, meeting strict deadlines
  • Liaise with internal teams and provide clear, constructive feedback to clinicians

Qualifications and skills:

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills (formatting, track changes, document layout, tables, headers/footers)
  • Exceptional attention to detail, spotting even minor errors
  • Excellent grammar, spelling and written English
  • Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines
  • Ability to maintain consistency and follow structured style guidelines

- Basic understanding end user operational and online maps and their uses for navigation, information and other nuances
- L2 Editor will be working on multiple short to long term pilots within online maps space and should be able to adapt to new projects, workspaces and technical specifications

**Skills Required:**
- Graduate/Postgraduate in any discipline
- POI editing experience 1-3 years
- QC experience 1-3 years
- Work closely with leads/SMEs/editors to communicate quality metrics
- Strong analytical skills and attention to details
- Ability to identify errors/defects and qualitatively analyze and validate all attributes of L1 tickets sampled size and ensure that editors have adhered to defined specifications and policies.
- Ensure accuracy of all curated info pertaining to the POIs by referencing various data sources like websites, imagery etc.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Gather data through web search
- Comfortable being held to metrics to measure performance
- Meet with peers and trainers for ad-hoc sessions policy related
- Knowledge of working on MS Excel / Quip Spreadsheets would be a plus
- Fluency in German language is required

Editor, Children’s (Puffin) – Penguin Random House UK

Penguin Random House UK is the UK’s largest publisher, with around 2,000 staff and more than 1,500 books published each year. This role sits in Puffin Non-Fiction and offers the opportunity to work with a broad range of brand authors and contemporary classics in children’s non-fiction.

The role

This exciting role encompasses editorial and administrative tasks. You’ll primarily be supporting the growth of the Puffin Non-Fiction team, working with a broad range of brand authors as well as contemporary classics of the future. You will be responsible for the editorial workflow and project-management of a wide range of titles through to publication. This is a great opportunity to join a creative and commercial team with collaborative support to develop your editorial skills in a non-commissioning role.

Key responsibilities
  • Proactively providing editorial support to senior members of the team throughout all stages of the book-making process, while taking responsibility for your own designated projects.
  • Collaboratively working on the in-house process for specific books, including scheduling and running costings.
  • Taking responsibility for managing the editorial workflow and project-managing a wide range of titles through to publication; developing and honing editorial skills across the list.
  • Providing Biblio support across Puffin Non-Fiction titles, compiling metadata, jacket and cover copy.
  • Working closely with authors and brand owners on existing projects at different stages of publication.
  • Providing excellent author care and acting as a point of contact for authors and agents, answering questions where possible and passing queries on to managers.
  • Attending new project meetings, reading proposals, and engaging in conversations about new book ideas.
  • Editing manuscripts for a select number of titles.
  • Liaising with in-house teams, authors and agents.
  • Presenting titles at internal meetings.
  • Contributing to the publishing vision by inputting ideas for format, binding, design, price and promotional campaigns.
What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with demonstrable editorial experience and solid market knowledge in publishing. You might currently be an Assistant Editor or Project Editor looking for your next challenge, or an Editor wanting hands-on experience on a different type of list and exposure to household brands and names. You’ll be creative, reliable and unflappable with excellent desk-editing, copy-editing and project management experience, combined with outstanding organisation and time management skills. Personal initiative and the ability to work autonomously are also important in this role.

  • Understanding of managing multiple stakeholders of varying seniorities.

**What You Will Do:**
- Perform internal document QC review of nonclinical documents (eg, Drug Metabolism, CMC, Toxicology, Translational Science, Preclinical) to ensure compliance with the client Style Guide, template formatting, and submission ready standards.
- Copyedit/proofread for grammar, style, and format according to AMA and client style guides.
- Ensure internal consistency and confirm that data are reported correctly, statements accurately reflect a common message and text to tables, figures, and appendices are accurate and consistently presented.
- Check the reference list in documents, including verifying citation information via PubMed, ordering copies of references, and adding to the electronic document management system (EDMS), and ensuring each reference is cross-referenced in the document.
- Proofread documents against standard templates to ensure compliance with required sections and text.
- Perform publishing of PDF documents to client submission-ready standards. May involve multiple document compilation of PDF files to include appendices.
- Assist Medical Writing Operations staff with clinical document QC and publishing, as appropriate.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and support Medical Writing staff with other tasks, as appropriate.
- May interact cross-functionally to support clinical and nonclinical processes and template updates.
**Your Profile:**
You will have a strong foundation in editorial and content services, with the experience to work independently and guide others.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Basic Science, or other analytical field with 4 years related experience in the pharmaceutical industry or 8+ years of experience in a discipline directly related to document production (eg, medical writing, QC, editing, publishing).
- Strong working knowledge of the editorial and publishing activities within Clinical Development.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, including the ability to format tables, insert cross-references, apply styles, and use templates. Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Adobe.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe PDF bookmarking and internal/external hyperlinking to meet submission-ready standards.
- Experience in the use of an EDMS (eg, Veeva Vault or SharePoint).
- Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and manage outsourced editorial work.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple activities, prioritize effectively, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
