+ An electrical/electronic/power engineering or similar qualification, such as an HNC, HND, BSc/BEng and/or an MSc/MEng.
+ Demonstrable electrical engineering design consultancy experience working on transmission and distribution projects.

As a Senior Consultant in our Environmental Consents team you'll play a vital role in navigating this evolving landscape-supporting the development and upgrade of energy and electricity infrastructure through strategic planning, environmental advice, and technical studies.
You'll contribute to some of the UK's most significant and transformative infrastructure projects, delivering services such as planning applications, Environmental Assessment (EA) / Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), route optioneering, site selection, stakeholder engagement and support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries.
This is a post which is of strategic significance for our business and represents a challenging and exciting opportunity to identify, win and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs for energy T&D, hydrogen and CCUS projects. We need people with creative spirit, a dedicated approach and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.

As a Senior Consultant, you will collaborate with a diverse team of technical specialists and design professionals to manage environmental contributions across project designs and assessments. You will be instrumental in improving the environmental performance for a range of energy T&D projects.
The role would suit an enthusiastic individual looking to influence, manage and deliver environmental elements of energy T&D infrastructure projects. You will have responsibility for managing projects including tasks relating to bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management.
+ Playing a key role in growing our energy T&D sector offer, working with sector leads and client account managers to drive thought leadership and win new business.
+ Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
+ Working with colleagues, environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
+ Managing the delivery of a diverse range of environmental inputs into energy T&D projects including planning applications, EA / EIA, route optioneering, site selection, stakeholder engagement, and support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries.
+ Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety.
+ Building relationships with clients and identifying opportunities to provide support in areas such as resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
+ Undertaking activities to secure new work, including preparing proposals, contributing to strategic-bid preparation, and participating in business development opportunities.
+ Supporting the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we do our business whether through Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA etc.

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**
+ A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA, or similar.
+ Achieved or demonstrably working towards Practitioner or Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of ISEP (formerly known as IEMA), or similar qualification with a relevant professional body.
+ Demonstratable experience of undertaking Environmental Assessment for energy T&D schemes with limited supervision within multi-disciplinary team, including under a range of UK planning regimes such as the Electricity Act, Town and Country Planning Act and the Planning Act 2008.
+ Familiarity with relevant consenting processes associated with energy and electricity T&D projects, including Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Environmental Permit applications, Marine applications etc.
+ Ability to apply programme knowledge to the coordination of tasks required of the wider team, ensuring the timely submission of deliverables and subsequent reviews that follow.
+ Experience of proactively managing strong relationships with client, external bodies and organisations.
+ Ability to lead and contribute to meetings with the wider technical team and external clients and stakeholders.
+ Experience in coordinating a suite of environmental surveys required to support an EA / EIA for energy T&D schemes, with knowledge of the associated Health and Safety requirements.
+ Ability to evidence consistently delivering projects or tasks on time and to budget, complying with business management procedures.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report writing and review capabilities, attention to detail, and a focus on quality assurance.
+ Sound knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation.

**Senior Cost Manager (Transmission & Distribution)**
We're looking for passionate Senior Cost Managers with Transmission and Distribution experience, to join our teams across our North, Midlands and Scotland Region operating from 8 regional offices, to work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects, both nationally and locally. You will be joining a growing team of like-minded people that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.

As a Senior Cost Manager, you will be expected to lead a team to successfully manage and deliver capital investment projects, which could include asset health refurbishment or replacement of existing assets. This role involves providing client-side cost management support during all stages of the project delivery lifecycle from option studies, option development, construction tender support through to NEC contract administration.
+ Lead the successful delivery of cost/commercial management services on multi-disciplinary Transmission, Distribution and Power Systems projects.
+ Client-side cost/commercial management, including stakeholder, risk, and contract management
+ Ensure projects and commissions are delivered to the satisfaction of the client for budget management
+ Support and manage the cost/commercial management team ensuring appropriate resources are provided on projects, meeting the client and business requirements
+ Actively manage contractors and subcontractors' payments and final accounts in accordance with contract conditions

+ Experience of working within a client organisation, either directly or through a co-location/secondment arrangement.
+ Highly competent in the use of NEC suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC)

+ Professional Development: Engagement in continuous professional development, including pursuing qualifications such as those offered by the RICS and other recognised bodies.
+ Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to effectively communicate and engage with various stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and the public, to ensure project alignment and address concerns.
+ Financial Acumen: Skills in budget management and financial oversight to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
+ Leadership and Team Development: Capability to lead cost/commercial teams, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting team members' professional growth.
+ Adaptability and Problem-Solving: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and solve complex problems that may arise during project execution.
+ Strategic Thinking: Understanding of the broader strategic goals of National Grid and how individual projects contribute to these objectives
+ Minimum of five years' cost/commercial management experience
+ A relevant degree such as quantity surveying or relevant equivalent
+ Strong history in both contract (NEC3 and 4) and cost/commercial management.
+ A member of a related professional body, preferably chartered
