In the role of Senior Engineer working on Overhead Transmission Line projects, you will be responsible for supervising a team of design engineers specialising in Overhead (OHL) Transmission Lines. This team will be working on a variety of projects encompassing overhead transmission lines ranging from 11kV to 400kV.
**A little bit more about your role:**
+ Providing technical evaluations and offering problem-solving solutions to different team members.
+ Prepare written proposals outlining everything stakeholders should know about a project, including the timeline, allocating resources, budget, objectives, and goals.
+ Offer technical guidance and input throughout the project implementation, statutory planning, and participation in Public Consultation events.
+ Responsible for the engineering and design activities of the team related to the overhead line. This includes PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, insulator/conductor blowout, swing angle, damper system recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, conductor, and insulator selection, etc.
+ Conducting feasibility studies, performing conductor thermal ratings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
+ Undertake studies to identify a technically preferred solution / layout to take forward to the Client.
+ Actively taking part in Industry working groups such as CIGRE, IEEE.
**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate:**
+ A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering.
+ Experience in overhead line engineering up to 400kV.
+ Experience on upgrading work projects such as utilisation of High Temperature Low Sag conductors.
+ Desirable skills - PLS CADD / POLE / TOWER
+ Knowledge of conducting galloping studies, EMF and Field Effects Calculation, Wake effect, AC Interference for Gas pipelines would be advantageous.
+ The ability to travel as projects dictate.

+ Accountable for Technical Standards for the OHL team. Final approval of documentation for submission
+ Lead and drive the team to develop and deliver effective and efficient strategies, processes and procedures for technical services
+ Supervising every phase of the design from start to completion (Concept, Feasibility, FEED and detailed design.
+ Creating hours estimates to carry out engineering activities in support of the business development team.
+ Approving designs and estimates for submission
+ Delegating tasks to engineering teams.

+ Performing quality control checks on all systems and products.
+ Acknowledging or rewarding good work.

The role sits within a Business Finance team aligned to one of our larger UK Disciplines and will report to the Discipline Financial Controller (DFC), depending on the discipline structure. We have a great opportunity for a EHV Cables Project Manager to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team.
WSP's T&D team delivers electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. This role is to project manage pre-construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and grid connections at voltage levels normally between 33kV and 400kV.
Our projects would include feasibility, detailed design, procurement, construction, test and commissioning on existing or new substations and associated infrastructure.
**What will you do:**
+ Develop EHV (33kV up to and including 132kV) projects initial functional requirement into compliant cost-effective engineering solutions.
+ Project Manage the development and delivery of EHV Cable projects (33kV up to and including 132kV) to time, cost, safety and quality.

**What we will be looking for you to demonstrate.**

+ A good understanding of electrical distribution plant items such as Switchgear, Power Transformers and Overhead lines.

**The Role**
**What You'll Do**
+ To manage portfolios of projects related to the water sector across a range of water, ecology and environmental assessment disciplines. An average portfolio might include 1-2 large/medium sized projects and a range of smaller technical specific focused projects (typically ranging from circa £10K - £250K+).
+ Project management that includes ensuring the necessary project data and information (such as risks and issues and financial and resource forecasts) are fed through the appropriate channels and systems, as part of the regular cycle of management and reporting.
+ Work with internal project team to ensure requirements and their inputs are understood.
+ Work with both the internal and client project teams to agree a project plan (schedule) including key tasks, task owners, outputs, delivery dates and dependencies for monitoring and tracking progress.
+ Communicate, monitor and track delivery against the agreed project plan and take appropriate action to maintain delivery if necessary.
+ Provide the client with progress updates throughout the project that reports on progress against project plan, budget, risks and issues, and identifies/tracks any actions required (typically producing progress reports/briefs for discussion at regular review meetings).

**Key Competencies and Experience:**
