The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the team to deliver grounds maintenance services to the client in a safe responsible manner.
**Responsibilities and daily activities:**
-Using petrol powered gardening machinery to control vegetation on the various site locations we work
-Using chemicals for vegetation control
-Manual handling
-Driving vans and tractors
-General maintenance and upkeep of tools/equipment
-Completing computer based training and courses using laptop computer
-Working in a safe responsible manner

**Qualifications and Experience**

The latest addition to Dyson Farming’s circular farming system is its new 26-acre glasshouse in Carrington, Lincolnshire. It supports the advancement of high-tech, sustainable farming in the UK, avoiding unnecessary food miles that come from imported strawberries at this time of year.

Powered with renewable electricity and surplus heat from Dyson Farming’s adjacent anaerobic digester, the giant glasshouse is 760m long with 1456 rows of strawberries and 1,225,000 strawberry plants which will produce 1,250 tonnes of strawberries each year for British consumers.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our dedicated Glasshouse team. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for keeping our advanced growing systems running smoothly – from climate control and irrigation to mechanical infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Ensure the service schedule is adhered to and that all work is carried out to the required standard
  • Carry out routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance of all glasshouse systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to ensure continuous operation of automated and environmental control systems.
  • Inspect and maintain structural components of the glasshouse
  • Assist with installation, upgrades and test of new systems or equipment
  • Work closely with the glasshouse operations, growing and technical teams to ensure optimal growing conditions and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, inspections and repairs
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance system performance and sustainability.
  • Participate in on-call rota and emergency repair coverage when required
  • Proactive attitude ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues by adhering to company H&S policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required by your line manager.

Person specification:

  • Proven experience in mechanical, electrical, or facility maintenance, ideally within a horticultural, food production, or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude and commitment to health and safety
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
  • Operate to our high standards of compliance
  • Commitment to undertake continued training and development
  • Professional manner and effective communication skills
  • Proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Willing to take responsibility and ownership for tasks
