Office based in Bridgwater (Hinkley Point C Project)

NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater , Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey , the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance , a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

As part of recent growth on this project, we are actively recruiting for multiple Pre-Construction Engineers with an Electrical background to join us. This is a permanent full-time position but will primarily be office based in Bridgwater (roughly 10% of working time will be spent onsite).

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Ultimately accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and record in Asset Suite 9 (AS9) the work information used to prepare for installation.
  • Contribution to the scheduling of the works for the discipline, inclusive of review and feedback on suitability of level of resource.
  • Define boundary of scope of works, liaising with necessary SME’s and client counterparts.
  • Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH documentation. Request clarification or propose changes when required. Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the schedule.
  • Ensure documents are kept up-to-date and reviewed periodically where required 
  • Ownership and driving of deliverables from conception to A-Accepted status >90% first time accepted criteria. Can be inclusive of specific Method Statements.
  • Prioritisation and ownership of documentation to enable construction works as per the level 4 plan. E.g. T-3 months accepted prior to works 
  • Support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures 
  • Provide line management to other team members and/or deputise for the PM where required.

What we’re looking for :

  • HNC/HND level qualification or equivalent in relevant construction/engineering discipline and experience with installing electrical systems.
  • Prior experience with Navisworks would also be very beneficial in this role.
  • Proven experience of safely delivering large scale construction or engineering projects including working at a management level of authority.
  • Experience in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors is advantageous.
  • Experience in working with Joint Ventures is desirable.

Summary

Due to growth of local contracts, NG Bailey Facilities Services are recruiting a Mobile Technician to support 2 of our contracts based in Watford WD17 (3 Days a weeks) and Cambridge CB3 (2 Days a week) providing PPM and reactive maintenance.

The successful candidate will have a background in either Electrical or Mechanical maintenance with relevant and current qualifications.

This is a Mobile role, therefore a UK Driving License is required as a company van will be provided.

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance relating primarily to Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Plant and System’s in-line with agreed programmes / SLA's in order to meet Client and Statutory Compliance.
  • Carry out planned, reactive and small works. Such as, emergency light testing, HVAC ppm, lighting upgrades, and fault diagnosis to building services equipment
  • To maintain premises to an exceptionally high standard
  • To ensure that all applicable site documentation is kept up to date and compliance records are maintained for the electrical systems as this will be regularly audited either by internal or external parties.
  • Assist with supervision of sub-contractor works ensuring compliance and adherence to applicable H&S standards when required.

What we’re looking for :

A electrical Technician with Mechanical knowledge working to a high standard of building services provision (planned and reactive) within a commercial occupied environment and with the utmost regard for customer service.

You will hold current qualifications to include:

  • NVQ Level 2-3 (Electrical or Mechanical Discipline or City and Guilds equivalent)

The SSNA Steam Integrated Delivery Team (SIDT):

You will work as the Electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within SSNA’s Steam Integrated Delivery Team (SIDT). The SIDT is tasked with delivering key equipment into the SSNA platform, which is novel to a submarine environment. Due to the novelty of the equipment there is a need to support equipment delivery with additional parallel technology maturity enablement plans. This is a unique and exciting role that offers the opportunity to shape how the SIDT delivers the challenge! The role offers significant development in all areas from requirement generation through to development of verification and validation plans along with the facilities required to enable timely equipment delivery and parallel technology realisation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Delivering the functional design of Internal Comms and Platform Data Systems (ICPDS), ensuring that customer requirements, and user requirements are elicited and agreed, and that systems and equipment are compliant with these requirements
  • Ensuring that the Communications and Networks scope integrates functionally with all the other systems and scenarios that call upon it
  • Assessing programme and technical risks to the delivery of the agreed Communications and Networks scope and propose mitigation activities and fall-back opportunities to the client
  • Supporting the 3D modelling activities and the programme review events to mature the 3D design and allowing release of data to production
  • Preparing the Comms systems hardware and software configuration for integration in a specialist integration facility
  • Supporting the integration team in the management of the acquisition of and installation of the facility equipment into the facility
  • Finalising the Comms verification and validation strategy and ensuring this is understood and bought-into by relevant parties

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience of working with third party companies to develop products
  • Proven management experience within a complex systems environment, such as: avionics, communications, military platforms, oil & gas, automotive, nuclear, power etc .
  • Degree (Honours) or equivalent qualification or experience within relevant engineering discipline
  • Demonstrable experience of leading teams

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer or working towards this

The Internal Comms & Platform Data Systems (ICPDS) Team:

As an Engineering Manager (Data Network & Communications), you will be in charge of a team of engineers responsible for the design, qualification, development and validation of internal communication equipment. This will involve liaising with key internal stakeholders, as well as large suppliers, subcontractors and the MOD. This role will provide you with the chance to work with the delivery of complex systems involving the latest innovative technologies, within a well-established team.
