As a Site Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of various factory equipment, such as conveyors, fans, bearings, chains, and sprockets. This role requires someone with a strong mechanical background and experience in the maintenance of medium to heavy industrial environments. If you have a natural aptitude for general mechanical and fitter skills and enjoy working with your hands, then this position could be a perfect fit for you.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include:

-Conducting routine maintenance checks.

Rolls-Royce are seeking to to fill 6 positions within the teams that make up the Overhaul & Maintenance Methods (OMM) skill group as part of the UK&I Defence Mature Programmes portfolio. You will define, validate, and support the implementation of maintenance policies and procedures at product level. This includes build and strip method and identify associated special to type tooling. There are three types of role on offer, each supporting the creation, sustainment and development of our maintenance methods for our UK Defence Customers: Technical Documentation, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Ground Support Equipment - Tooling.

Engineers in this team are primarily responsible for defining the safe, reliable, and cost-effective method of maintenance and overhaul of our products. What You'll Do
You’ll be responsible for carrying out day-to-day repairs, minor improvements, and planned maintenance across all Treehouse sites. Your duties will include:

  • Fixing and replacing doors, locks, intercoms, and fittings
  • li>Minor plumbing and electrical repairs (e.g., leaks, lighting, boiler checks)
  • General DIY including painting, assembling furniture, and maintaining resources
  • Garden and outdoor maintenance including fences, play structures, and seasonal tasks
  • Supporting site safety and carrying out hazard checks, fire warden recommendations, and reporting
  • Travelling between sites to respond to urgent maintenance requests

What We’re Looking For
Essential:

    < i>Proven experience in maintenance, caretaking, or similar roles
  • Good all-round handyperson skills (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrics)
  • Clean driving licence (D1 category desirable)
  • Understanding of Health & Safety, COSHH, and safeguarding expectations
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise urgent tasks
  • Strong communication and basic IT skills for logging tasks

Desirable:

  • Experience working in schools or nursery settings
  • Awareness of EYFS environments
  • Health & Safety or Facilities Management training (e.g., IOSH)

Manchester, Midlands Region: Travel Required


Are you an experienced Facilities Technician or Heating Engineer with a Gas Safe qualification, looking for a regional role offering autonomy, variety and excellent earning potential?


On offer is a field-based position covering sites from Manchester down to the Midlands, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of properties. You'll be a key member of the regional facilities team, working on heating systems, plumbing and general maintenance tasks, while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and delivering a high standard of service.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Gas Safe qualified technician who enjoys a mix of heating, plumbing, and general maintenance work, in a role offering variety, autonomy, and long-term stability.

The Role

  • Carry out heating system maintenance, fault finding and repairs (domestic and light commercial) across multiple sites
  • Complete general facilities maintenance including plumbing, minor electrical work, and building fabric repairs
  • Work from a planned maintenance schedule, as well as responding to urgent issues when required
  • Regional travel from Manchester to the Midlands (company vehicle and fuel card provided)
  • Monday to Friday, with optional weekend and evening overtime at enhanced rates

The Candidate

  • Gas Safe registered (essential)
  • Background as a heating engineer, facilities technician or similar
  • Experience in both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Comfortable working independently and travelling regionally
  • Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to safe working practices

Job Purpose:

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician will report to the HSEF Manager and will be responsible for overseeing building and equipment maintenance within a production/manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine and reactive maintenance across the site, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and fabric repairs.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers to coordinate specialist repairs and compliance inspections.
  • Ensure that facilities are safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Monitor building systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting) and report faults or inefficiencies.
  • Support health and safety compliance, including risk assessments, fire alarm testing, and emergency procedures.
  • Provide support during out-of-hours emergencies or planned maintenance as needed
  • Be the Appointed Person for Legionella Control.

Knowledge

  • Good working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and safety standards and practices.

Education

  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical, Plumbing, or Building Services.
  • Experience in facilities management systems.
  • FLT licence.

Skills and competencies required

  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance or facilities role.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and carry out basic repairs effectively
  • Full UK driving
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. licence.
  • FLT licence.

Professional experience

  • Experience in facilities management systems.
  • Experience of RAMS and managing contractors onsite.
