- Hands on fault finding and problem solving with plant equipment.
- Facilitation of small projects to progress efficiencies, product performance and reduce costs.
- Troubleshoot process issues and recommend improvements.
- Prepare process documentation including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and SOPs.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, and R&D teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of core chemical engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat & mass transfer).
- Understanding of process safety and environmental standards.

- Producing quality control evaluation reports and associated documentation, e.g. certificates of analysis.
- Producing and updating SOP documents for processes around the laboratory.
- Performing development work on existing and new analytical methods.
- Maintaining technical databases of quality control results as well as those concerning sample receipt and despatch.
- Making and testing product samples
- Assisting with collection and sampling of materials from local warehouses and facilities
- Assisting in general lab housekeeping, working in a clean and tidy manner, reporting and reordering shortages of chemicals or equipment, restocking chemicals and solvents, and helping dispose of laboratory waste in a timely and correct manner
Requirements
- Minimum degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or relevant scientific discipline
- Proven laboratory experience and strong analytical skills
- Recent, industrial experience of HPLC analysis would be considered advantageous
- Strong work ethic, good multi-tasking skills and high attention to detail

- Package and label waste in compliance with environmental and transport regulations (Full training will be provided)

- Safely drive collection vehicles to and from customer sites in order to carry out your responsibilities.

- Use Veolias IT systems to generate documentation, assess waste, print labels and, when required, generate quotes.

- On occasion, pump, decant or re-package compromised containers.
- To assist with Transfer Station Chemist duties on site when required.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of transporting dangerous goods. (Full training will be provided)
- Provide technical advice to customers and sample waste when required.
- Comply with all customer site rules.
- Foster strong customer relationships.
- When suitably experienced, provide basic mentoring to new starters.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of routine supplies
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested by management.
What we're looking for;
- A science-based degree of HND or equivalent qualification ideally in Chemistry
- Knowledge and/or experience of hazardous waste
- It is preferable for candidates to also have COSHH and health and safety understanding
- As the role is mobile, candidates must hold a valid manual driving licence, and be comfortable driving a 3.5t van
- Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers are essential
